I mean he had 56 points in 72 games.

If you get Draisaitl a winger instead or let Savoie ease his way into that spot, I dont think its a failure. I would actually prefer targeting a guy like Tuch or Tippett.

For reference, fans had Bobby MaMann slotted in that role and he had 46 points in 78 games.

It was a down year for nuge for sure but I wouldn't be upset with running back Nuge/Savoie if it makes sense.

They traded down so they have an even later 1st that belonged to Buffalo. 28th overall I think. If we take Goodrow off their hands, maybe they’d part with that for Nurse.

McMann did that with Domi as his playmaker, not McDavid. Its also about fit, McMann is a pure sniper who brings speed and physicality. Nuge brings....good vibes?

I dont think the penguins want to split up Wotherspoon and Karlsson.

I would do Nurse for Shea, with him signing a 4x4 deal.

I think I like Shea more than most though.

If they can get a 60 point winger some offence has to be put in the bottom 6 hopefully Kapanen circles around and comes back on a bargain deal, Roslovic is way too inconsistant so aidios

So this leaves us with a top six winger, a third line winger, a goalie (preferably a starter but at his salary, Jarry is going to get the chance to start), and possibly a veteran #5 defenseman. Ike Howard could fill one of the W spots, but if we do that, I expect Nuge keeps his 1LW spot and Howard gets to start on 3LW, and that's probably not a recipe for success.

I don't know how we find a top line winger (or top six) to play with McDavid, I don't expect any will really be left by the time free agency opens, and Tuch isn't coming to Canada I'm sure. There aren't many wingers on that list that aren't older than Jesus and/or simply not producing anymore. I wouldn't mind taking a shot on a guy like Bjorkstrand for the 3rd line.

Another RW is probably a certainty. I wouldn't write off Kapanen quite yet, but I think they want see what the Habs plan is for Kirby Dach.

I think that Quinn Hutson is probably going to get a good look at camp, too, considering he had such a strong year in Bakersfield.
