Honestly should've tried to get him retained at last year's deadline.

Truth be told, I was surprised he wasn't part of the Ceci deal.

I like Podz, but Kostin would have been an outstanding replacement for both Holloway and Kane. Though that extra mil would have meant a 21-man roster and no accruing cap space, as SJ had no retention slots left.

Calgary and Toronto jealous of our signing stealing the spotlight so they decided to make some signings of their own

You know, it's really nice that Lauren and Celeste are just all in on Edmonton as Connor and Leon are.

Far cry from the Mrs Pronger saga crap we used to deal with.

Bob Stauffer said that there is a very high chance that Connor McDavid re-signs in Edmonton (more than 90% chance). He also pointed out that the organization is going to look a lot different because, with Leon and McDavid signed, the team will work hard in development/drafting

Bob Stauffer also hinted that the contract negotiation talks with McDavid and Bouchard probably have already started

Bouchard could sign now(and I hope he does) and I suspect players like McDavid are always "having conversations" about an extension until they can finally sign the deal.

Pretty sure San Jose is already using all 3 retention slots. We couldnt do Kostin at 2m.

Leon knows what's up, he slyly dropped in that "even the wives are best friends" when talking about how close the Oilers are, he's talking about his fiance and McDavid's wife, lol.

Bowman said he will have an update on Kane in the next 7-10 days and that anything is possible on their RD. They do like their group and want to see them at camp but they are still looking at some UFAs and other ways to perhaps get another RD

Even that seems low. He’s not going to have a better chance at a cup anywhere he goes (no team that looks like a contender can fit his cap without ruining the team), his best friend and fellow top 4 player in the world is here, and even his freaking agent is now running the team. The only danger with Connor leaving was if Leon left.

No, but you could do retention through a 3rd team. Columbus is no longer even cap compliant. They could probably be talked into taking a mid pick for a year of retention

Ya it’s pretty clear what’s going to happen
