IMO this allows for a lot of flexibility and adjusting lines to combat opposition strength.

Seems obvious McDrai will happen in the postseason when we need goals.
Beautiful thing about centre wing versatility is ability to move players around the chessboard. Like the idea to start Henrique at 2W to integrate into the team and especially against a lottery level opponent. Knoblauch will have ability to move Henrique and McLeod between 2W and 3C depending upon game situation and opponent. First game though give Henrique a taste of the good life as a top six wing with an elite centre.

If we believe the Eberle rumors (and also that Kane and Drai don't like to play together) I would breakup that top line and run:

Kane - McDavid - Hyman
RNH - Draisaitl - Eberle
McLeod - Henrique - Foegele
Holloway - Carrick - Perry

Keep McDavid and Hyman together. Keep McLeod and Foegele together. Drai gets his shooter and playmaker. That 4th line would be menacing.

I hate Kane and Hyman together as both are useless at transporting the puck. It doesn't work even accounting for the fact their center might be the literal best to ever do it in transition.

Draisaitl and Eberle would be sweet though I think. Ebs is excellent at sneakily sliding into scoring positions.

But line combination stuff is off topic.

Treliving is gonna sewer the leafs chances completely. What a wet noodle.

The leafs future looks bright.

What is the cap situation with regards to being able to call Jack Campbell up post-deadline?

He had a shut out down in Bakersfield the other night it looks like ... I think we have to get him in some actual NHL games, there's more than a small chance he could have to play in the playoffs.

Thats fair, hopefully kane and drai can figure it out.

To make the money on this work Foegele would probably have to go back I think no? A sacrifice I would be willing to make for sure.

He's a solid guy, don't think that he'd be BSing. What does Carrier bring to the table? Familiarity with Ekholm and? Do we dare pair him with Ek and then Bouch with Nurse or can he settle Nurse's game?
He plays some of the toughest minutes in the NHL and does far better than Ceci at them.
vs Elites
Carrier 39.2% ice time, 345 minutes, 14 GF, 10 GA
Ceci 31.8% ice time, 318 minutes, 12 GF, 16 GA
As a quick look.
More time against elites than anyone on our team, is a +4, best on our team period is Ekholm with a +3

What a complete bunch of scumbags. Just watch Stone suddenly arise from the ashes the middle of April. I really want them to miss the playoffs badly now.
I know everyone is pissed about Stone and how they are playing with the cap but these rules apply to every team. If we didn't suck out of the gate we could have played that game when McDavid and Ekholm were hurt. Or fake something.

He's better at everything than Ceci other than being tall.

Prediction:

Kemp, 2nd for Carrier

Foegele, Tullio, 2025 2nd for Eberle
Both of those players, Carrier and Eberle retained at 50% yeah?

Only teams that have the depth can pull that move. Let’s say we started great out of the gate and somehow we’re able to LTIR Drai or McDavid at the deadline. We don’t have the depth to ensure we could still finish strong. However teams like Tampa and Vegas already having every advantage possible can absorb loosing a guy for a few weeks or a month. This is strictly because their 3rd lines are better than most teams second because of the advantage of a warm climate no state tax and a winning team. Players sign cheaper in those cities for the reasons I listed .

With the new guys..

RNH MCD HYMAN
KANE DRAI FOEGELE
MCLEOD HENRIQUE PERRY
JANMARK CARRICK BROWN/RYAN

That is what I would go with. Positionally if there is a way to flip McLeod and Foegele, fine either way.

I’m not a huge Eberle fan at this time, but your lineup makes the whole thing enticing. Also, seeing Henrique and Carrick in place of our usual 3C and 4C really adds to that. Oh, and no Brown….that sold it!
