Not the lines I would have gone for, but Knoblauch has the team playing at a high level, so if it's a test to see how things go or he think it could be a good long term fit, I'm game.

Henrique was always going to be in the top 6, anyone who thought Janmark was going to stay in the top 6 forever was smoking crack.

Janmark is obviously a huge hole in a scoring role but there are multiple ways to build the lineup that has Mattias where he belongs and Henrique at 3C. Even if we don't add anyone else.

Foegele absolutely does not have to be move with Holloway in Bako. Just takes a bit of creativity.

Thanks for the clarification on what you meant. You could be right for certain, we could always utilize next years picks for double retention. There are certainly ways to accomplish this, we just need to be willing to "pay the price".

I know there were reasons for it in terms of the Tarasenko return being paltry but it's hilarious that Edmundson netted a similar return to Tarasenko. Treliving is the gift that keeps on giving.

Eberle isn't terribly expensive and a team, like Buffalo, not making the playoffs getting a free asset for cap that means nothing, seems like a no brainer.

Yep, that would have made the most sense but lines are fluid and there's tons of versatile guys in the lineup so I'm sure we'll see plenty of different combos.

Kulak - Ceci is what I imagine a cup winning 3rd pair looks like. Maybe not quite that expensive, but if you can manage to ice that and have someone more capable above, that's real depth.

IMO this allows for a lot of flexibility and adjusting lines to combat opposition strength.

Seems obvious McDrai will happen in the postseason when we need goals.

Hmmm, that is interesting to say the least. Most, including myself, thought Henrique would slide into #3 C spot, as McLeod hasn't been great there. But apparently we are loading up the top-6 instead.

I like that 4th line, especially once it’s Holloway instead of Ryan, as it will certainly be for the playoffs.

I don’t mind Henrique getting an initial game with Drai to get him warmed up but he should be the 3C

Yeah clearly nobody should read very hard into any line combinations with 2 players at their first freaking practice.

The forward group has very obviously been purpose built to be flexible.

If we believe the Eberle rumors (and also that Kane and Drai don't like to play together) I would breakup that top line and run:

Kane - McDavid - Hyman
RNH - Draisaitl - Eberle
McLeod - Henrique - Foegele
Holloway - Carrick - Perry

Keep McDavid and Hyman together. Keep McLeod and Foegele together. Drai gets his shooter and playmaker. That 4th line would be menacing.

That third line generates next to nothing. Perry likes to cycle while McLeod is allergic to the boards and Foegele handles the puck like a grenade

Imo Kulak-Ceci is the embodiment of a "meh" 2nd pairing. But those two as the 3rd pairing? That's quality depth. One that actually takes a bit of the load off Nurse-Vinny and doesn't force them to do too much heavy lifiting.

if Vinny can continue to keep his head above water, then I'd be fine with them just grabbing a #7 to round out the group.

I'm thinking more along the lines on acquiring a player that you know will be healthy by playoffs.

I think Toronto just made the move to clear Clarksons cap because Horton was forever LTIR
