Rumor: Rumors & Proposals Thread: “I’d buy that for a dollar!!!” Edition

I respect your opinion, your obviously a knowledgeable poster, but I still disagree.

Thats fine they had to trade players out. Byram is good but not great and Johansen is ass. I am more then fine trading out players here in Edmonton for upgrades. Even if there is a difference in opinion in how much better the player improves the team, I personally really like that they are going to get the guys they have identified and are taking risks. IMO what went out and what came in, Colorado got better.

For Dallas, maybe not the best but certainly some of the top avaialble players. Which dman who is available currently is better? He was also the #1 Oiler target so clearly there is a lot of value subscribed there. The only dman I can really see being ranked higher ironically is hanfinin lol.

As for Vegas, I truly think defence is a sum of the parts. That defence as a hole does not have a weak point. Him playing in a number 4 role vs number 1 role is vastly different. I dont think hes a world beater but they are loading up an already stacked defensive core.

You make some very good points though and it did make me feel a bit better about our TDL to hear your perspective. I still would like the Oilers to add and IMO "keep up" with the above teams.

100% and I hope my optimism (from an Oiler POV) is correct.

I just find at deadline time too many people overblow the impact of the "sexy" acquisitions at deadline. Thinking back a lot of the time the #1 player on a given year's deadline board doesn't end of making much of a difference in the big picture. I find this is especially the case for the already really good teams as they are already really good - there isn't as much room to actually improve.

Short of a team picking up a true home run #1 d man or goalie when they didn't have one at all before, my opinion is that a good majority of deadline deals don't make an appreciable impact to the final outcome of a playoff. A lot of these moves work as enhancements or insurance, not measurable impact generators.

I don't normally agree with you but this is a fact that can't be argue.

Yakapuv fail but it was a weak draft.
Pizza boy terrible when Tkachuk was right there.
Reinhart trade
Broberg pick

That right there should have been 4 solid pieces. There are many more.
Then the Holloway pick and the Bourgault pick. Benson over Kyrou or Debrincat.
I guess Yamamoto was fine, but Robertson going in the 2nd round hurts, but lots missed on that.

Vegas Golden Knights:
-Didn't have to expose anyone in the SEA exp. draft.
-Permitted to repeatedly circumvent LTIR (despite other teams penalized).
-Lowest amount of team PIMs.
-Highest positive differential in PP opportunities.

This is what paying the NHL $500M gets you.

Usually a team would get more in return if the player they trade signs an extension with the other team. So is Vegas getting around this by not extending Hanifin until the day after the trade is complete? LOL... man those guys are sneaky bastards.
I wouldn't put it past them. I bet they told Conroy it's just a rental man lol

Conroy got thrown in jail and gang banged on this one

I'm not even being an ass lol I was curious. This is the first time I seen you mention that you had sources I was doing quick scrolls yesterday.

I don't shit on rumor posters. I find it entertaining.
Alright sorry bro

Dude you are being an ass to others here, of course people will react in kind.
If you have a legit source you are supposed to let the mods/staff know, if not it's labelled as BS.
I'm not being an ass. I tell it like it is and people don't want to hear it. Fact is Fact

Anyways I will try to come off differently so thanks for the criticism

One wonders what our scouts even watch lol
The memo which informs them which players they can select from and which are hands off...

If you sorted the players efficiently into groups of 32 by perceived value for each of the 7 rounds and picked randomly 7 times it's statistically impossible to strike out as often as the Oilers.

Meh, Boston did the same with Lindholm.

Conroy wanted more value he should've traded him a long time ago when everyone except him realized that the Flames UFA's were all going to leave this year

You're completely missing the point. I'm not giving him credit. I'm saying your an idiot if you think a GM will come out publicly and reveal what's actually going on.

So far he did exactly what he said he was going to do.

EDIT: I removed some stuff to maintain a civil discussion. I'm holding out hope that Holland gets that second-pairing RHD.

Wyatt Johnston and Stankoven both picked after Bourgault, Roope Hintz and Jason Robertson in round 2, Thomas Harley was picked after Broberg and is already a top pairing Dman in the NHL...just incredible drafting by that team.
If we don't win a cup, this is the reason. League-worst drafting after picking McD. Started with Reinhart and just snowballed. Bouch was a good pick, though, striking out on every fwd pick since is just insane.

True, there are what? Like 4 picks playing for the team, and 2 of them are McDrai.
