Let's be real, if our management operated like Vegas- going for it every deadline, upgrading wherever and whenever they can, taking advantage of loopholes, we'd love it. In fact, I'd argue the way Vegas is run is how the vast majority of successful business are run. It's just that we have sleepy Ken at the wheel, so while the last two cup winners are adding top 4 D and top 6 forwards, we're tinkering around the edges.

Yes it can. The bonus is an overage. What ever we have left of the cap comes off and the remainder is the overage for next season.I don't know. Probably not.
I think their management style only really works for franchises that operate out of a super desirable city.Let's be real, if our management operated like Vegas- going for it every deadline, upgrading wherever and whenever they can, taking advantage of loopholes, we'd love it. If we were located in a warm climate with no state tax and unlimited options for players to relax on their off time sure. The fact is we are not and people are pissed because the teams that pull this already have the advantages I listed above. The field is already tilted it doesn’t need to be full of mud too. Tampa and Vegas should both have an Asterix beside there cup “wins”Let's be real, if our management operated like Vegas- going for it every deadline, upgrading wherever and whenever they can, taking advantage of loopholes, we'd love it. Doesn't help when GM's gave them good players for taking on good players lol.Vegas might be the first team ever to basically dismiss the draft and get away with it.
They are uniquely positioned to be around the front of the line for any player of significance that wants to go there.
- A grade market
- No tax market
- Competitive team
- Can maintain anonymity
- Good organization
- Probably not on anyone's NMC list, and if they are everyone would waive for them
They can probably just deal their first for the sexy player on the market in perpetuity.
I firmly believe that there are GMs that everyone knows they can take advantage of, and other GMs. Ken Holland is in the former category. We generally pay higher for trades than other GMs. Remember when Kenny said about Keith "do you want me to get him for free?" when we got him with no retention, Keith requested a trade specifically to Edmonton and we had all the leverage? The Oilers can't get away with anything because Holland isn't astute, and everyone around the league knows that.Good luck trying to get away with the Cap circumvention that Vegas does as a Canadian team.
This is the same league that pro-rated Neal's goals and took away the extra cap relief from the Keith retirement. Do you honestly think that if Vegas or Tampa were in the same situations, those same rulings would have been applied.
The league does not allow teams to play on even grounding.
That tracks for you.Vegas and their ten fans displaying a sense of humor.
I hope theses bums get swept in the first round
We also don't have a player being paid 9.5 million a year that seems to somehow always get LTIR'd right before the TDL, opening up massive amounts of cap space to spend to get big names and then magically comes back in the first roundLet's be real, if our management operated like Vegas- going for it every deadline, upgrading wherever and whenever they can, taking advantage of loopholes, we'd love it. Good points... But we need all the help we can possibly get.We were leading the Knights in every game last year. What did us in was shitty coaching and shitty systems with some shitty goaltending.
Not our D.
Anti-VegasFreddy Anderson activated of IR.
Carolina doing it backwards

Between the low taxes, the weather, proximity to California, and the overall team success, Vegas has players lining up to don their jersey.
Dallas good young players have already pushed their way to more ice time and roster spots. You dont have to worry......Broberg is more than a 7th and at worst a 6th dman this year. With increased playing time he would grow substantially....as for fickle Holloway? He brings more to the table lready than Brown, Ryan, etc. and again Ryan is declining and Holloway will be more advanced next year. The interesting thing is fans whine at the Oilers for poor development but the fans will not wait for the development like other teams do.
Wrong, those cup wins should have a smiling Bettman face with a thumbs up beside them.If we were located in a warm climate with no state tax and unlimited options for players to relax on their off time sure. I don't normally agree with you but this is a fact that can't be argue. If the Oilers had even mediocre drafting we probably have a Cup by now.
You know the majority of Foegeles points have come from playing with Draisaitl this year right?Foegle has 31 points in 13 avg minutes of ice time wity little to no pp time. Eberle has 37 pts in 17 minutes of ice and in sure plenty of pp time so again why make the trade? Foegle is also faster and a hell of a lot more physical which comes handy during the playoffs
Dallas might be the #1 drafting and developing team in the league nowDallas good young players have already pushed their way to more ice time and roster spots.
Harley is good enough to be playing on their top pairing and earned his way there. Broberg is our 4th best LHD.
Dallas has Johntson and Stankoven, both guys who were drafted a year after Holloway and later in the draft than Bourgault and they have forced their way onto the team.
Lots of prospects even on top teams earn their way into playtime but only here are we begging for them to be gifted minutes.
This is fair, I wish they would have grabbed Zito.I'm a little bitter about this Vegas stuff because Kelly Mcrimmon (Vegas GM) and Bill Zito (Florida GM) were allegedly the front runners for the Oilers GM job in 2019, until Holland became available, and Nicholson hired him without an interview.
