He isn't wrong. It could be that a team interested in JP wants to see him play, or it could be Holland doesn't want to lost JP for free and he thinks he will. Something that we don't know.

He said the moves don’t make sense and there has to be more to it.

It makes lots of sense as a temporary move.

Na some people would have been unhappy if we waived a player that could of been traded instead of lost for nothing.

HFoil would be mad at anything other than a trade today basically

Listening to the Daily Faceoff daily pod, Yaremchuck mentioned Henrique, who's actually a really interesting possibility assuming Anaheim is game for full retention.

He's got one extra year at $5.85m and is playing 18 minutes a night. He PKs, solid on the draw and is a consistent 40+ point guy.

They've been rumored to be interested in Puljujarvi in the past. Foegele could make sense, too.

I should mention Henrique was an elite PKer in NJ - but since coming to Anaheim, he's barely PK'd until this season (with poor results)

Definitely wins face-offs and scores goals though - there are a few teams with goal issues that I have a feeling will also knock on Anaheim's door (cough Flames even)

He just stole Jason Strudwick’s idea. Strudwick has been banging that drum for a year now

Think Henrique is too much money ... 5.8 next year is a cap killer even if Foegele is out.

Putting a lot of the rumors together from over the season, Anaheim makes a lot of sense.

I don't have a lot of knowledge about Klingberg. It'd be interesting to see why the Oilers were reportedly in on him, but he's probably one of the more devalued options on the market today.

Just spitballing, but what would you have to add to Puljujarvi and Foegele if Anaheim was willing to eat 50% on both Klingberg and Henrique?

Getting Henrique for that extra year at a net zero cap cost would be pretty valuable. Tough to see how the defense would play out though.

We see a lot of player types never pan out picked outside of the top 10 of every draft. In a perceived weak draft, If as you say this was a historic bad NHL draft, I'd say a final first round pick on a guy with low NHL floor with size, shot, and truculence sounds like a solid safe play.
"Right now, I see a bottom-six forward with some upside who can play physically and add an element to special teams."

He was definitely a safe pick but also got hot for 40 games and rose up 50 spots in the draft because if it(he was ranked in the 80's mid season)
Had a great start to the season and has went ice cold since. Definitely not a prospect that I would hold up a deal for

Ducks fans would be more than happy to retain 50% if a 1st was attached to Foegele/Puljujarvi

I thought he was the worst forward for Team Canada Junior's.
Small sample size and I guess it is a plus he made the team, but I'd rather move him than this year's first rounder during a strong draft year.

I wonder if Grier is pondering whether more teams might be interested this summer after Karlsson's season, whereas it's likely Oilers or nada right now.

They can trade Barrie I think.

Get E Karlsson, and watch Ceci becomkng rebron as a 2nd pair D.

Nurse E karlsson
Broberg Ceci
Kulak Bouchard
Then trade Kulak+Bouchard for Chychrun and watch Nurse becoming reborn as a 2nd pairing D

Chychrun -Karlsson
Nurse-Ceci
Broberg -Desharnais

With almost every sports pundit writing that we need to go all in and linking us to every big name, we are going to get trolled at and laughed at so hard we end up with Edmundson and Duclair. I just feel it

I wanted to split Nurse - Ceci...
And oilers should keep Bouchard with his low ELC, keep Kulak, hes a great captain 3rd pairing.

Nurse - Karlsson/Chuchryun
Broberg - Barrie/Ceci/Desharnias
Kulak - Bouchard

Up to Holland wich to do.

Trading for a LD is worse.

Nurse - Desharnias..?
Chuchryn - Ceci/Kulak
Broberg - Barrie/Bouchard

If they trade for LD, there are big 1st RD peoblems.
