Many teams trade for players to ensure they get/woo them. Teams trade 2nds for signing rights

The cost for JP isn't expensive at all, and yet nobody wants him. Further more, it seems the tale of the video/tape is completely out trumping the "advanced analytics " that have misrepresented his skills the last 2 years, otherwise atleast a couple GMs would have bit already
We don't know that. He hasn't been on waivers, and no one has openly said from Oilers management "We have no takers". As you can see, we all were thinking, Media included, we would waive him, but we didn't. So there must be value left in him. At least, until a trade is done and we see how much value he really has. Until then, it's all here-say.

We have 4 guys on pace for 90+ points. Kane is back. Yamamoto is back. McLeod is scoring. Why do we need Meier again?
Meier is a guy that any team could really use, but the cost and the fact that we wouldn't be able to re-sign him in the off-season make him a no go for this club

Holland said that this summer actually. And since then several reporters have to on many occasions

I haven't heard it yet, but apparently Friedman in his 32 thoughts says no big moves coming and just Vinnie and Holloway going down to make room.

Lame if true...

DNB already stated that last night.

Yes very lame if that's all that happens.

Freidman isn't an insider anymore. He plagiarizes what he see's on twitter at this point.
That bit he just stole from Gregor. The "report" before that, he stole from Rishuag i believe.

IDK if the media is baiting us with the "big move today" crap from yesterday, all I ask is that Broberg/Bouchard don't get included in a Karlsson package if it does somehow happen.

MCU is toast, that was there one chance to win people back and it looks like they are blowing it
Last 3 Marvel movies.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Budget$172–200 million[2][3]
Box office$955.8 million[4][5]

Thor: Love and Thunder

Budget$250 million[2][3]
Box office$761 million[4][5]

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

Budget$250 million[2]
Box office$855.1 million[3][4]

Yup, sure looks like they are toast. Only making 500+ million off of each of their last 3 films.

I have not watched a Marvel movie in years. They don't interest me in the slightest. However, as long as they keep making disgusting amounts of money they will continue to be churned out year over year.

That's only production budget. Disney's Marketing budget is close to a 1 to 1 ratio of production cost.

Most of the gross is international as well. So Disney doesn't make a lot of money compared to domestic returns.

Wakanda Forever barely made any profit.
Thor didn't make them money.
Strange had the most profit out of these movies.

This isn't the "big win against analytics" you think it is. Jesse's analytics are abysmal this year which corresponds to him playing way worse, producing way less, allowing more goals against etc. Last season when his analytics were good he wasn't nearly this bad at finishing, killed way less plays, produced way more, and had much better defensive results both in terms of metrics and in terms of actual GA. He would've gone for a 2nd/3rd round pick this summer but we tried to hold out for a bigger return and now he's worthless b/c his salary is now 3x as high and both the on ice play and the analytics have cratered.

Rishaug just said salary wise this Holloway Vinny send down doesn’t make sense and that there’s something missing here that we don’t know
Watch it just be Poolparty/Foegele/Ryan or something on waivers instead xD

To be fair though you could say those all vastly underachieved, Thor in particular

No one cares about Marvel films in this thread right now. Start another thread if that's what you'd rather discuss please.

Lame is right ... rather have either of those players playing - certainly rather have both of them playing. Yamamoto and the Scarecrow need to be dealt away.

Worst comes to worst, a top 4 puckmoving dman or Patrick Kane because it seems like he wants to come here

Best Case, Karlsson

We have 4 guys on pace for 90+ points. Kane is back. Yamamoto is back. McLeod is scoring. Why do we need Kane again?

I'm jesting a bit here but also it's very true. If we don't need Meier, who is great at 5v5 and physical, we definitely don't need P Kane, who is injured and potentially only a PP specialist for a team that acquires him due to that.

They’ll do it at a point when box office really starts dropping off. Probably with 5-7 years. They’ll use it to try and reignite both franchises.
5-7?
I give it 1-2.

I called it after Endgame.
It's a directionless as Star Wars is with Rey.

I'm a pretty die-hard Marvel fan, and I've already passed on several shows and movies, and the few they did attempt to translate from the comics, they managed to really f*** up.

Every new character they introduce seems to be some form of a Mary Sue.
None of them have the sense of loss that the original Avengers had, none of them EARNED their stripes or went through a trauma or growth like the original Avengers did.

Nope! every character is perfect in every way, and need no change or growth, they're all just pristine. Every hero now is flawless (like Superman) which makes for just about the dullest character arcs imaginable.

Batman was always more filmable because he clearly has PTSD.
Every MCU character from Iron Man to Endgame suffered immense loss and character growth from Spiderman, Iron Man, Captain America, to Guardians of the Galaxy, and the only Phase 5 Character that worked (Shang Chi). You know.. the HEROES JOURNEY.

Outside of Guardians of the Galaxy, I think the rest of these will flop:

Ahh interesting. How can I find out more about how much money they actually made off of these movies because I was not aware of that fact.

It just seems to me that they keep churning these movies out and as long as people keep flocking to the theatres and handing them wads of cash, even if they only "break even" after marketing, it's still a massive win for Disney.
