What did they trade? I thought it was a 3rd round pick and Michael Kesselring, a prospect having a solid season, but not "that" promising. They didn't trade tullio or something
No way would I give up Kesselring for a journeyman UFA 4th line player. 6'5" right handed shooting prospect d-man with offensive skills is a hard commodity to find.

I am happy, but I want a RHD. I just hate Ceci playing top pair even if the min get cut down. Don't know if we will be able to do that

He has 1 season of goal scoring to his name on a near quadrupling of last years SH%. I wouldn't hold your breath. 0.5ppg career high,5 years post draft. Traded for an actual NHL player who will see the ice in McDavid prime playoffs.

Dineen is better offensively, albeit smaller. Neither affect the big club here.

This is the first year in his entire hockey career that he has shown "offensive skills".
We got a prospect back thats a year older but has been substantially better offensively their entire careers.

Zucker won’t play in Canada or too far from Minnesota. He’s from there and his wife has a major gig with a sportscasting company there.
A few months isn't all that much for guys.

Don't ever trust an insider saying they are done.

Why would a GM tell them "I am done" lol
You can only trust local media guys ON deadline day.
Cause the team does reach out.
And its not Friday yet and Rishaug/Stauffer haven't said anything.

I rank Bjugstad as a #10 type forward... so adding that to the roster for a reasonably cost is a decent deal.

I don't know if he's a true "needle mover" (a $900,000 guy likely isn't)... but I'd say he ranks ahead of:

-a semi-healthy Yamo
-a green but developing Holloway (who's also hurt)
-slightly ahead of "underwhelming" Foegele that we have often seen on this team... but slightly behind the current "decent" Foegele.
-McLeod/Ryan/Janmark have been a mixed bag of results as well (good at times.. meh at times). I'd honestly take Bjugstad right now over those 3 as well.
-above Devon Shore as well

I think Bjugstad fits in pretty well into the bottom 6 on this team. We certainly don't have 12 forwards better than him and arguably we don't even have 9 forwards better (not consistently better than him anyway)... so I think he's a solid addition to add to the platoon down there... especially when we know injuries will likely hit.. as they always do.

We get Cam Dineen back who is 5th in the AHL with points for defenders.
Bjugstad doesn't use his size apparently but he is now the hits leader on the team.
He is also a +7 on a team that is -25 5v5
Man, I am behind in the details of this trade. What I saw online did not mention Dineen coming back. Don't know anything about him. That said, Kesselring is a tough package to find with tons of raw ability that's only beginning to come together. Not someone I would mortgage on a UFA journeyman. Would have to be a better player.

Now ... I will go research Dineen and hope I haven't missed anymore of the deal details! ;)

I don't think Ken is done.
One thing I found is odd was Holland was just talking about the ability to call up Holloway when he returns from injury, our current cap situation would block us from doing that and secondly I'm guessing we'll want a better depth d-man then what we presently have, our top 7 D is reasonable, but when you are leaning on so many inexperienced D, you definitely want a higher quality 8th d-man.

Man some of you guys are so harsh on Yamamoto lmao its like you guys want to give Yamamato a concussion so we can make make more trades lmfao
I don't think I've ever seen anyone here wish a concussion on Yamamoto besides Kaptah. That being said, if he is concussed then you use the LTIR, that's just business.

Kesselring is tough to part with but realistically he’s a bottom pairing RHD and that spot will hopefully be occupied by Desharnais for years to come.

Kesselring is 45th in AHL dman points, he is high in goals for sure but it all points to just a good year rather than another step.

Be careful of using +/- as an assessment tool... I've been told by very knowledgable folks that's a bad idea. ;)

Zucker was on record as saying he wouldn’t report to a team far from Minnesota when the Wild offered him in trade before he was traded from Minnesota to Pitt.

Doubt he’d come here.
Yes but he still had term left.
ITs much different moving to a city for a few years or going to go live out of hotels for a couple months to win a cup.

I guess, he's a late pick from a few years back. He's tough to lose, but there are other guys in the pipeline
Such a raw package with his size and skating. Came out of college early during covid era. Think Kesselring is only starting to show the tip of the iceberg with his potential. Loved what I saw of the player. Overpay to use for an end of roster UFA journeyman, imo. Will need to look into Dineen who I didn't see as part of the deal coming back.
