As a part-time Caps fan (I know I use that preamble whenever the Caps are mentioned), I'd be incredibly surprised if they moved Wilson. As far as I'm concerned he's the heir apparent for captaincy once Ovi retires.

As a full-time Oilers fan, I'd be ecstatic if we somehow got Wilson. Love the guy.

This makes more sense now that Barrie is gone. Let Bouchard run the PP for now, see if he can handle it, during Draft day, look at seeing if Grier will trade him then (obviously will be a LOT less than what we offered), and trade for him based on how Bouchard plays. Imagine Karlsson, Ekholm, Bouchard, Nurse, Kulak, Desharnais, Broberg...our defence will be amazing.

Without the cap sky rocketing, I dont know how we fit it, I tried hard.
Even if Bouchard only signs a 2 mill extension. Moving Ceci and Kulak out that is only what...6.5 mill?
Can we really rob more from the forwards for Karlsson?

I would absolutely love it if the Yotes won the lottery and Bedard pulls a Lindros, and announces he will not play for that shit organization.

If the Oilers want to circle back on Karlsson this off season the one critical piece they need to fall into place is for Campbell to turn his season around. Moving his contract out and replacing him with a 2M AAV guy to partner with Skinner frees up the needed money. You could send out Campbell, Yamamoto and Ceci 11.6M total AAV and ask the Sharks to retain a reasonable 1.5M/yr on Karlsson's deal to bring him down to 10M AAV. It's not crazy - but really only possible if they can clear out Campbell's contract in the deal or in a separate transaction. He needs to play better.

Seriously, I remember how many rumours were around earlier in the season about getting him, and now we're at deadline week and we haven't heard a peep about him.

Man, if they go after EK in the summer, the ask better be significantly less than what was rumoured before the deadline.

A year ago that contract was up there with some of the worst in the league. There way more risk than reward if we don’t get a run out of him this year.

Tom Wilson, I’ve never heard his name out there so I don’t know if theres any truth to it but maybe given the Caps situation. He is a rare/occasional 20 goal scorer Coming off injury.

The Voracek trade now let's the Coyotes trade away a player making a few million while still staying above the cap floor.

Holland needs to kick tires on what it would take to acquire Crouse.

I wouldnt pick him up in the offseason honestly (unless hes cheap and SJ is accommodating). I'd just wait again till the trade deadline to see how his season is going and to see if hes injured. Too much risk otherwise.

Just don't see how he fits in cap wise. Would need to move out Yamamoto and Foegele
 
I wonder how long it would take Wilson to get suspended in Oilers silks. Our players generally aren't given as long of a leash from the league as players on other teams are. Remember last playoffs when we faced supplemental discipline four times? lol. Yamamoto is still dealing with the results of a blindside headshot from Landeskog that wasn't even penalized.

I just don't see how we fit him with a cap going up 1 mill.
Unless they retain like 50%
