Hall was the player to move for Barrie.

If you are moving more forward depth out you are going to put very young players like McDavid, Puljujarvi, and Draisaitl into situations where they are in over their head.

Hall may want to kill us if he is stuck on a line with Duchene for 82 games a year.

And I agree, Hall absolutely needed to go out east.

A player I don't often see in proposals is Nurse. What could we get back with him in a package? Not that I want to trade him but I'm curious.

We can't afford to lose much more offensive depth.

Larsson has to be the centerpiece of the D now ... we made our bed, now we have to lie in it.

I think maaaaaybe they'll do something like add Wideman for a year who can help out as a PP specialist, but Barrie, nope.

I don't see him even being available, if he was, Taylor Hall would not have been traded in the first place.

Adam Larsson was the best Peter Chiarelli could get after trying for six months. He basically said so himself.

We don't know what sort of dynamic the team will have with some proper D and a more balanced line up. The Oilers, for some reason, are always touted as some high flying team, when in face they are always at the bottom for goals for.

Too many factors in hockey. Sometimes guys get rejuvenated, sometimes guys step up when somebody leaves, etc.

Maybe we don't have constant fire drills in our end and we can sustain some O-zone pressure more often as well.

Better trade Nuge before he goes through another injury prone season and he's worth even less. Hopefully Colorado wants him.

I think we need to just get over the idea of having a "sexy" defence. It's not happening.

We need to bank hard on Larsson being as good as Chiarelli thinks he can be ... we're in it now and there's no turning back. If he is, and you have Klefbom back, and McDavid is what he's supposed to be then you should have a team that can compete for the playoffs.

Unfortunately that likely means having to overpay out the rear end for Lucic, my advice on that would be to front load the contract so you can buy out or ship out the contract in later years to a team that needs to hit the cap ceiling.

I'd trade for short term PP fix like a Dennis Wideman if we have any cap space left (maybe Calgary will take Mark Fayne for him). That won't hurt us long term and buys us some time.

I would *not* trade any more of our forward depth. We need to insulate players and having three solid centers is crucial to team depth. We should be very worried about Draisaitl's development, forcing him into the defacto no.2 C spot was iffy as is, but no Nuge or Hall to play with is a disaster just waiting to happen.

Nope. Keep RNH and Eberle, hopefully this Hall trade has shaken them up and they come to camp with renewed vigor.

I'm thinking that he'll bounce back this season, if not his value would definitely hit the skids like Hall's did.

I'm hoping we sign a veteran UFA right hander, would be nice if he had some PP skills. Is Boyle the best possible option that way?

I like the idea of Fayne for Wideman but Fayne has an extra season, would the Flames go for that?

I agree with this. Dont think we should trade Nuge.

Honestly I would just try and offer sheet another RHD who brings some offence whether it is Risto, Barrie, Trouba. Either hope the other team doesn't match and if they do chase a secondary option. It would obviously have to be for big money.

I don't think Davidson, Nurse or Reinhart are trending in a way that they could come out and say we deserve that much also then Larsson and Klef are locked up long term so our D even with an overpay in dollars for a guy should hold.

Then we just need to solidify the forward group.

This better not be true. 7x7 is totally insane.

I really like Lucic, but 7 X 7 is definitely more than I'd like to sign him for.

Well it's time for Larsson, Klefbom, Sekera, Nurse, to put up or shut up then.

Three of these guys are top 10 picks, one of them we gave up Taylor Hall for, one of them we commited a 8 year contract too, the other we took over Ristolanien.

They need to be the real deal. No excuses. Because if they're not, we're ****ed anyway, we paid too dearly for this group. If they can't even be a middle of the pack defensive group ... we are hooped.

Agreed. I think Nuge is in for a bounce back season and I've always felt he plays better without Hall. I would love to see a Drai - RNH - Puju line. Let RNH focus on offence again and have two players that are good defensively as opposed to Hall and Ebs.

Sign Demers $5X5 and Wizniewski $3X2 then trade Fayne.

Klefbom-Larsson
Sekera-Demers
Davidson-Wizniewski
Gryba

Nurse and Reinhart to Bako for experience.

Hall's value didn't drop, Oilers management are just brain dead. I'm calling it now, if Oilers don't trade RNH they will have to give him away for nothing come next year.

You going to take someone who's expresses his sources claim as "Balls Deep" seriously? A Flames Radio guy?

Andrew Ladd is still out there. Lucic barely outproduces him if at all and Ladd will most likely take a shorter deal.

Thoughts?
