I'm shocked they let him speak at the Rexall farewell ceremony. I though the boos would rain down much harder than they did.

Regardless of what has transpired under his watch he was a good trooper, really the only one from the dynasty to come back and finish his playing career here and he got our team into the last SCF with some outstanding trades.

Lucic would give us a good level of play for at least 3-4 years IMO. Not to worried about what happens after that. We can deal with it then. If Chiarelli can bring in Lucic/Maroon/Kassian within a calendar year, I would say that is a pretty good job addressing our toughness. People don't understand just how big we are going to be.

Lucic/Maroon/Kassian/Pouliot/Draisaitl/Puljujarvi are all big boys. We can finally be a team that imposes our will physically. New territory for Oiler fans but I think we might just like it.

Will be interesting to see if we even land Lucic tomorrow. Will be interested to see if Chia has any type of backup plan.

I just can't see what else is out there. I mean we can't move any D for a #1 LW, we can't really ship any forwards out for one without making a gaping hole somewhere else.

I mean this Hall trade HAD to come from at least an assurance from Lucic. Don't care how good your D is, your not going anywhere with Benoit Pouliot and Patrick Maroon in your top 6

If Demers is signed tomorrow then I can't see Barrie being brought in due to his asking price. Who is out there as a cheap PP option then? Wisniewski?

Klefbom - Larsson
Sekera - Demers
Davidson - _____

sadly--from what was suggested earlier in the year--Barrie is looking for the money the Ekblad just got--and there is no way he should be anywhere near that zip code

I'd definitely be willing to give that spot to wiz on short term contract.

I'd prefer to get barrie though and let reinhart and nurse battle out for the number 6 spot in camp, and re sign gryba for cheap.

Maybe seeing the ekblad contract will smarten him up.

It's crazy the asking price from some of these kids that have barely proven themselves in the NHL these days.

unfortunately Fayne still exists and unless your paying 3+mil to your number 7 all year he will be the bottom pairing RHD

Fayne is overpaid, but he's good depth to have. Our cap is rapidly drying up, but his deal actually fits just fine from a cap management perspective. His deal runs out exactly runs out when McDavid's extension kicks in. We should be able to absorb Fayne's hit easily until then.

Fayne showed good shutdown ability at the end of the season after a rough first half. I like him moving up the depth chart for injury replacement better than Gryba or Nurse or Reinhart.

I also like a Davidson-Fayne bottom pairing. We can give those guys some tough starts and maybe give Larsson a break.

Send Fayne to Carolina, they're barely at the cap floor, if they're even there. Serviceable #4-5 dman on the RHD.

Then sign Wisniewski.

Klefbom-Larsson
Sekera-Demers
Davidson-Wisniewski

LHD-RHD every pairing, every pairing with players I think can play in the top 4 in a pinch.
