It sounds like Colborne has played more wing than anything so I'm not sure that he'd be a good add if you think of him as a C. That said I agreed on DSP and if we have a wing spot for Colborne then why not him too?

Definitely. If he works out he could buy us 2-3 years before we'd need to add a permanent fixture. Maybe by then Ethan Bear might be ready for a 3rd pairing ES and top PP role?
