Dear god no. Cherry's best before date was about 5-7 years before he got the punt. His shtick was tired and boring.
Glad they moved on from Gramps.
I do not get this Cherry obsession either, If I want to hear some rumbling about in "in my days" and somebody always forgetting/mispronouncing basic names or words, I just go see my grand dad at the hospice. I don't want that on prime time television.

Doesn’t seem like much has changed except for Bieksa’s awful haircut.
He must be trying to look like Arthur Shelby

Wait wait wait wait
That segment that Freidman did in the 2nd intermission with rumors and injuries isn’t a thing anymore?
So, that's called 32 thoughts.

The hotstove is like 10 years ago.

However, on the latest podcast, Marek mentions that he is out and no longer apart of 32 thoughts on Saturday, but will continue with the podcast.

So, they cut a guy who brings rumours and talks about the "little guy", like women's hockey and prospects, but kept Ron, that no one gives a f*** for.

People just don't watch hockey like we used to.

20 years ago, we'd all be huddled around watching coaches corner, seeing the highlights from the last week, getting the bombastic opinions. Now people don't sit and watch between play as much, and we have access to highlights and opinions at our finger tips.

They should stagger the games and just cut back and forth. I'd love to watch more Sens/Habs misery between periods.

You mean some people still watch between periods? It must be so they have something to complain about.

Usually just the 2nd intermission on Saturdays for rumours.

People just don't watch hockey like we used to.

That's something obvious that Bettman and Co can't figure out.

It's also why Football, Basketball and Baseball will always remain more popular in North America. Slower, to significantly slower sports, so more times to watch reels and tiktoks

I could never get over seeing Ron on HNIC in near full hockey gear on a pond with a helmet over his toque. Until Saturday when he tried a super awkward fist bump with his co-hosts.

Someone just has to tell him he's an old timer now and it's okay to act like one?

That's fine don't watch. Don is an icon and loved by much larger group than the terminally online crowd. You know what hasn't happened once at my bar since he was canned? Nobody has asked me to turn off the music during intermission on a Saturday. Albeit, he was probably towards the end but the way he was let go was disgusting and Ron's apology on his behalf even more so. Ron without Don has really shown just how unlikable Ron is to your average man.

Cherry was the most entertaining commenter in HNIC history. No one did it like him [MOD]

Ron and Don going back and forth over highlights was the way to do it.

I actually like Kyper and think he could be that time of commenter as well. Would be a hell of a lot more entertaining than their current make up.

People dislike Marek because he's not a traditional hockey bro. I don't get it, the dude clearly lives and breathes hockey and his insight is often a much different perspective then what is presented. There are people on the Leafs board who refuse to listen to anything Marek says because 40 years ago he got his start on AM radio doing Wrestling shows. So because of that they call him "the wrestling guy who knows nothing about hockey".

I haven't watched that goofy lame panel in years. When the 🚨 goes off to end a period its off the screen. Why ruin a perfectly good game!....plus I wouldn't subject the wife or any company we have to that load of crap.

I don't like Marek because he gives this aura of arrogance. Like he has an extremely punchable face, and he seems like a nice enough guy so I feel bad for saying that. But just when he gets on his tangents he is such a smart ass, IDK you just want to shove him in a locker or something.

Cherry was the most entertaining commenter in HNIC history. No one did it like him, and unfortunately in today's woke world, no one will again.

Well, if Don just stuck to that then he would still be on the air. Who cares about his opinion on war or soldiers or poppies? Stick to hockey.

He's one of the biggest jock sniffers in the business. Next to Hayes on Overtime.

I miss Satellite Hotstove. I only tune in to the Marek/Friedman for rumors. Heck, I even miss Al Strachan and his made up ramblings.
Strachan was at least funny. He made a point of trying to piss Milbury off towards the end of his tenure - not that it took too much. Use a few words out side Mike's wheelhouse and he'd snap.

I don’t get why they would cut down on their news segment. If anything that never got enough time. And it was working well with Jeff and Elliotte where they got to add context as opposed to where it used to be where Ron would be in a rush to get everyone to blurt out what they’re actually supposed to before getting cut off.
