I was gonna trade up for Bruce if he fell a couple more spots and get him as my 4th WR

@Tony Romo in Rd 22 I took TE Jackie Smith, longtime Cardinals TE who played from 1963-1977 with Cards and in 1978 with Cowboys. Not journeyman TE Jackie Harris from Green Bay, Tampa Bay, Tennessee, Dallas from 1990-2001.

All good, I just know I've been relying on ctrl f checking the drafting post vs the lists I'm putting together of potential draftees. Figured others might be doing the same and didn't want someone to miss him due to that.

Most underrated Corner ever. Had the bad timing to peak in an era crowded with dominant defenses. The Steel Curtain, Doomsday Defense, No Name Defense, Purple People Eaters and Orange Crush ate up the headlines.

I will say this about Madden, the Al Davis head dealt with wasn’t near as erratic as the one Tom Flores won two Super Bowls with.

I tossed & turned between picking Blount & Green as my first CB, I thought he'd slip quite a bit due to some of the reasons you ,mentioned.

Yeah, I'm not someone that gives the Superb Owl any undue respect. He has a winning record in the playoffs, so it's not like he's someone that just wilts in the postseason. That sort of dead ball era, too, was a couple of haves and a bunch of have-nots. From 1960 to 1978 (until the new pass defense rules), only five or six QBs totaled double digit TDs in the postseason or something like that...

He also didn't play a playoff game until he was 33. So, the fact that he found time to get into three (?) Superb Owls is pretty crazy in and of itself. He played over half of his career before the merger...

In fact, his post-33 year old career is quite incredible...he went 57-20, ~16000 yards, 3 pro bowls, an MVP, OPoY, led the league in TDs one season, comp% in another, yards in his last...just a real interesting career arc in general...

Criminally underrated in an all-time sense. Not having a ring factors into that, but he never really gets the respect he deserves.

yeah me and @GKJ have been tag teaming updating the draft board. Just because I have some stuff going on. Once again, shout-out to them

Really wanted SHanahan as my OC but you snooze you loose.
I took Kyle early, because I think outside of Reid you can convince me he’s on the Mount Rushmore for OCs/ offence minds

LOL I was sitting there going back and forth on Weddle v Berry as my safety. Ended up going Weddle due to the INT numbers, including year where he led the NFL. Funny that Berry went exactly next pick.

I really discovered Riley because of our last all time draft looking for players who forced a lot of TOs.

Frustrates me with the analytics guys that they really just seem to attack older players being overrated on the basis of some simple stats, but never really tell us who deserves more respect from back in the day. Ken Anderson is the rare exception.

Riley and Too Tall Jones are two guys who I think would get a boost from reexamination.

I can't prove this but I've known VI a long time (since 1/08) and ever since the last starting QB was taken I thought he'd take Graham not Tarkenton. I've been waiting a long time to say that! I was tempted to tell someone but the only reason I didn't was to protect the integrity of the draft. It will be interesting to see where those 2 QBs are drafted next time.

Thank you.
But "Deacon Blues" i have no memory of us talking, though i have seen your posts. Have we chatted? (I am an ol' Man U. fan and remember every one of the three Chelsea fans I've talked smack with).

Nevertheless, surely, your instincts were right, Otto Graham was on my top-10 list of QB names in a 13-team draft. Then QBs i wouldn't draft were picked, and i was gooood to wait. I had the 8th draft position, 4 QBs were gone by then, only two of which I would have drafted before LT or Reggie. (Sorry Prime, but you're a CB, so easily neutralized by simply playing away from our #1 offensive threat; okay, not so easy, but often and effectively. Playing away from a pass rush, in contrast, is waaay harder. I had both Sanders as a round 3 or 4 priority despite being #1 at their - limited - position).

Legit surprised Hester made it so long, especially since he played in living memory of so many posters here.

Just too talented for me to pass up.

My thing is that so many of my other players happened to be excellent returners that I didn't even pursue one...from a specialist standpoint, obviously, he's all time. But I guess it also depends on what "rules" these "games" are being played under. Under current rules, where you only have to kick the ball at 85% on the power bar to get a touchback, Hester has almost no value...under older rules, he's a potential difference maker...
