"Kolosov is an unorthodox, hyper competitive goaltender, whose athletic traits allow him to compensate for his smaller
frame. Anytime we see a goalie who’s measured at 6’1 and under, the first area we immediately hone in on are their
reflexes. The smaller the goalie, the higher the reflexes have to be in order to compensate for the lack of size, and that’s
where Kolosov passes with flying colours. His reflexes are exceptional, as is his battle level, and fluidity between different
save types."

2021 NHL Draft: Flyers select Aleksei Kolosov 78th overall

Kolosov, who was passed over in last year’s draft, spent much of this season with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL. While his usage there was a bit limited, he posted solid results as a teenager playing in a professional league. He only played in nine games, but he posted a .911 save percentage in those games.

Though not the biggest player in terms of what we normally see in goaltenders (Kolosov is listed at 6’1” and 187 pounds), his skillset is undeniably an intriguing one. Kolosov brings very good quickness, and also generally good positioning on top of that. He’s economic in his movements, angles well, and flexes quite solid rebound control. There’s a definite calmness to his play, both in his ability to maintain control of his movements when he does have to move quickly, but also in how he rarely seems to get rattled when the game may not be going his way.

Certainly there’s still a good bit of work that needs to be done to clean up and develop his game, but the Flyers seem willing to give him the time to develop, and are hoping to add a nice bit of organizational depth and further bolster their goaltender prospect pipeline.

That sounds like a Russian Hart.
Shorter goaltenders are a money play, because the prejudice against smaller goaltenders.

Especially in this shitty draft, I have zero problem going with a goalie who played in the KHL at age 18&19 in the 3rd round. Even if I prefer bigger goalies. KHL goalies have a pretty good recent track record.

This is his Jalen Hurts

not really ustimenko, ersson, sandstrom are behind hart. Usti and ers are good goalies. definitely what the phantoms need next year. they could pull a hart and see some nhl games if they play well. Usti was out all last year, I wanted to see what kind of talent he has in a full year

Can any KHL watchers report on how he compares to the previous KHL star goalie prospects like Shestyorkin and Sorokin at the same age/ development level?

He's a 19 year old KHL starter, don't really care what he does this year, the experience will be invaluable.
Most Russian goaltenders his age would be the MHL, not even the VHL.

Sounds like he is doing fairly well. The Flyers seem to have a slew of goalies in the system that have legit NHL potential (not necessarily starter but potential to stick around in some for or another). I don't really pay too much attention to other orgs, but anyone know how we compare to others with regard to goalies in the pipeline? Probably the hardest position to scout and I would imagine most teams have a bunch of late round lottery ticket hopes like we do but I really don't know.
