Still pissed w lost, tho. It was mix of our offensive ineptitude and solid saves by Kolosov. His only goal against was a penalty shot. Lots of key saves in 3rd period when Latvians were the better team clearly.
But, but, he was an overage draft pick. Can't be any good.
Goalie potential/development honestly feels like random number generator in 80% of the cases, so nice to have this guy in the system. Having a Belarussian goaltender in NHL would be awesome as well. Quick search shows the only one thus far has been Daniel Taylor, but I wouldn't count him as he was a Brit at that time, gained Belarussian citizenship late and would by no means qualify as ''standard'' Belarussian.
Mezin is his goalie coach now. I followed his career way too closely for a journeyman European goalie.
Flyers also drafted Ustimenko who is Belarussian but represented Russia at the u18s.
The fact that Kolosov is starting in the KHL at 19 is a pretty good sign, then big WJC tournament.
@Appleyard, is he starting to make you re-evaluate his upside?
Though if he's only a solid NHL backup, that's good value in the 3rd round.
We've had enough bad backup goalies to last a lifetime.
Reminds me a bit of Bob. I think Hart would have had 2 snapped groins.I dunno, them clips showed some athleticism.
Has improved from .906 to .913, his backup is at .892, so it's probably not due to the team in front of him.
Flyers want to see him in NA next season, but I'm always against players going to NA too early and unprepared. We've already had discussion about Kolosov with Dinamo Minsk
