We'd still have one more day than Florida, plus they have to travel here tomorrow.
True but the leafs could use the extra rest.
Game #7 teams expect to play after one day off. A game #6 team should have three full days off.

Yep, and their team has changed significantly, and has a different coach. They also chose not to fix their biggest issue in defense, their depth at forward is gone, and their young goalie Knight has been with the player help program or whatever it's called.

A bit of optimism won't kill anyone, but we've been hurt so many times I understand the doubt.
Well how about this for optimism.

Panthers were last year's President's trophy winners and now that they're healthy, were the better team in the 1st round against this year's president's trophy.

They're not a typical 8th seed and not to be taken lightly. After all, we're relying on you guys to secure us the 17th overall pick.
Does my heart good to see people coming out and state the presidents trophy does indeed mean something. And as I have been saying all season long it is a much more accurate gauge of how good a team is than the playoffs.

Panthers had something like 14 come from behind victories going into the 3rd, that’s unheard of.

And also rode monster years from several guys they no longer have.

Point total differences:

Marchment -16 (gone)
Huberdeau -60(! gone)
Weegar -13 (gone)

Bennett -9
Reinhart -15
Barkov -10
Ekblad -19

They’re still a team to be respected and given no openings, but the 2021-22 President’s Trophy winning Panthers were a fluke, evidenced by getting stomped by their in-state rivals. I much prefer playing them to the Bruins.

Watched almost the entire Panthers/Bruins game. Great game btw (without the Bruins play by play, which is worst in the league in my opinion - which is why I watched a different feed).

With no dog in the race, I was thinking it would be nice to face the Bruins - slay the third dragon (1st - first round, 2nd - TB) and put ALL the ghosts to rest; But as we have it, fate has a different plan . . . we must . . .

BEAT THE STATE OF FLORIDA.

The Panthers have one thing that has carried them past the amazing Bruins regular season team . . . moxy. It's a blend of "never give up", "nothing to lose", physicality, and an underlying ability of a lot of different ways to score which didn't really show up much this year reg season, but has been very apparent last year and this postseason.

The Fates have decided to pit us against another Florida team which is almost the exact opposite of the other Florida team we just defeated . . . they are faster, much younger, way less experienced and also have way less pressure/expectation - and they also have weak and inexperienced goaltending. They're also more physical, and overall way looser in attitude and play.

We will learn to hate Gudas, almost as much (but not quite) as we hated Perry and Maroon. We will have to deal with the the moxy and skill of Tkachuk. But by by god . . .

We will beat the State of Florida into submission.

Crazy Bizarro NHL Playoffs this year, Leafs win a round after 19 years, Boston has a record breaking season up 3-1 and end up losing the series and potentially Avs could be out as well....Anyway, I'm pumped, round 2 here we come. What's the lineup we think?

Jarnkrok-Matthews-Nylander
Knies-JT-Marner
Bunting-O'Reilly-Achaari
ZAR-Kampf-Kerfoot

Mcabe-Brodie
Reilly-Schenn
Giordano-Lily

Sammy Smiles

Hmmm so are you saying the playoffs are more accurate in determining the better team?

For 99.9% of fans, the Presidents trophy means nothing and the Stanley cup means everything and for two years in a row now, the presidents trophy winner lost in the 1st round. But go on, I'm listening.

Panthers third line will give the O'Rielly line a run for their money.

Luostarinen Lundell Reinhart

Reinhart 4 goals
Luostarinen 5 points
Lundell 4 points

"Better" is a subjective term that can mean a thousand different things and who's better can change from day to day. Winning the cup is the goal though, think of it as the Holy Grail if that helps.

Alrighty then so the playoffs are the end all be all. panthers are better than Boston. Cool! I certainly wouldn’t feel more comfortable playing the better team.

This is ridiculous.

The series starts in 3069. Closer to the truth than the highlighted.

Jesus christ, read my replies for more explanation. I'm not writing it all again. We literally have attached a 1st to dump Mrazek and even Marleau a few years ago. Idk why people are acting like we've never done it.

That, and frankly I think the Leafs matchup better with them.

Better forwards? Yup, I don’t care how hard people are polishing Tkachuk right now, and even if he was the best forward on either team and he isn’t, the Panthers don’t have an equivalent to Mitch-Willy-JT-RoR.

Better D? Yup. Montour and Mo are a push but beyond that the Leafs have better depth. You can’t play Ekblad and Montour against every single weapon the Leafs have - there will be times when Mahura and Gudas will have to face Matthews or Mitch, ask Tampa how Cole, Bogo and Serge did there.

Better goaltending? Maybe - it’s close. Bob has two Vezinas, one with an asterisk and his playoff numbers aren’t that great, even this year.

Better coaching? Again maybe - Keefe vs Maurice…

It’ll be a fun one with butt clenching moments but I think the Leafs stick to their plan they take it in six.

I didn't say the Panthers are better than Boston and there is parity in the NHL so "better" is an elusive concept anyway. But like I said, winning the cup is the goal, FLA is still in the mix, Boston is not and every Boston fan would rather be in FLA's position right now. If you doubt me, go ahead and ask some BOS fans whether or not the Presidents trophy is any consolation for losing in the 1st round.

Wasnt it a Florida second round last year?
Since you're asking, I can only assume you're right. Thanks for setting me straight.

Expect a cheap Gudas hit a game, Thachuck slew foots. Montour to me is their 2nd most dangerous player. Watching their series I’m not too impressed by their PP and PK systems. They are running on emotion and adrenaline, always a good 3rd period team.
