I never said we wouldnt get a 2nd or 3rd back, I said we would probably have to attach that 1st to him and theres a good chance we will. He's also owed 6 million in actual salary, which is not attractive to cap floor teams. But sure attack me and say I'm stupid when you assumed things 🤣
So you are clear, the buyout for Murray next season is a measly $680K and $2M in 24/25.

They are not giving up a 1st round pick to move Murray.

Now that you know, do you really believe they are parting with a 1st rounder rather than a buyout?

I don't understand this... We were all hoping for this... Now people are worried?

I know we're Leafs fans and we've been through a lot but we should all be celebrating. There's no guarantees but the outlook is all of a sudden much better for the Leafs.

For those saying they wanted to get Boston instead, it's pretty much like the nail saying they wanted to get the hammer. Don't forget that against Boston they would get all the calls (again) while Florida being a much smaller market we have a better chance of officiating not being a factor in this series.

I know I’m just addressing always. The resales that were 350-400 probably are bleeds. Nose bleeds in florida probably pay you. if you know what i mean
Sure, I agree the value is different with what you get there vs. here in terms of seat location, I'm just saying the whole 'it's cheaper to fly down to Florida than get into the game in Toronto' just isn't accurate.

His buyout is cheap next season but then like 2 million the next season when Nylander and Matthews are UFAs. That 2 million could be the difference between keeping bunting at 3.5-4 mil or O'Reilly at 5.5-6
Call me crazy but I could see Nylander moved in the off season. Good idea? Hard to say, but he must surely have high value to a number of teams.

They literally just did with Mrazek last season. Yes we got a pick back and probably would again, but the cap space is more important in what would be Matthew and Nylanders new contracts. Every million will count to a team tight against the cap. The 668k next season is not important, its the 2 mil the season we reup those guys.

And Florida beat them.
Exactly. Which is why people are optimistic?

When we lost to Columbus did they go on to win another round? The best teams in hockey typically win ~60% of their games. Teams lose to much worse teams plenty of times a season. Florida played well and came back from a huge deficit, but it doesn't make their defense and goaltending all of a sudden good. Nobody thinks this is going to be an easy series, but odds are we stand a hell of a lot better chance against the Panthers.

Hopefully we don't get bias officiating that would have come in playing against the Bruins.

It's fixed at 28 now.
Nice to get that 4 spot bump up in ranking value. Will help.Dubas achieve a better return if he trades down.

I don't get why it is so hard to just be optimistic. Like objectively we should win this series....it is perfectly fine to say that out loud. If something goes wrong we can talk about that when it happens. Seems pretty straight forward.

Could be, a lot can happen, hopefully good things that make cap space more valuable.

Go Panthers Go

Panthers were last year's President's trophy winners and now that they're healthy, were the better team in the 1st round against this year's president's trophy.

They're not a typical 8th seed and not to be taken lightly. After all, we're relying on you guys to secure us the 17th overall pick.

Wasn't Florida the Presidents trophy winners last year? Looks like they are back after a bad start.

Let's hope the Leafs take them though.

My guess is its because most people hate themselves for being Leaf fans and being even semi-optimistic in the past. The amount of disdain most people have for the team and their players... jeez lol. One goal against in this series and we're going to hear in the GDT the entire FO needs to go, and the stars can't get it done. Easier to eat the crow if we win I'd assume.

I’ve heard Boston choked before way worse than we ever did. Apparently they played the flyers were not only up 3 games to 0, they were also leading the 4th game 3-0 but ended up losing the series. So choking is nothing new to Boston. Lol!
it was a worse choke job. the 3-0 boston lead was in the 7th game.

Watched the entire BOS/FLA Game 7. Leafs are facing a tough opponent either way.

But let's be honest here, Florida is a much better outcome. If Boston pulls it off tonight they avoid the upset and they get rolling. Add in the extra motivation against an original 6 rival and the fact they they were the best team in the league this year. Then add in the lopsided officiating that we would have to endure for the entire series.

Florida is very beatable. They played Boston hard and pulled off the upset but they're beatable.

Leafs just beat the toughest team in the Eastern conference.

Have confidence. Don't be cocky, but have confidence. The boys are rolling. Can't wait for some Round 2 hockey. The road to the cup may be opening up for us.

Florida is a better team to watch as a fan. But i think the Leafs do it. Can’t wait.

Last time I checked this afternoon round 2 tickets are $800 a piece for a crap seat.
I got a pair for $350 a piece. Resales haven't really started yet, anything even posted will be inflated right now because they haven't released tickets in the general sale yet.

Game #1 should be on Wednesday or Thursday not f***in Tuesday. Leafs lose a day of rest.

Yep, and their team has changed significantly, and has a different coach. They also chose not to fix their biggest issue in defense, their depth at forward is gone, and their young goalie Knight has been with the player help program or whatever it's called.

A bit of optimism won't kill anyone, but we've been hurt so many times I understand the doubt.
