Let's get back off track. What kind of cheese would be best served with a Russian vodka? I'm not a huge fan of cheese, so I would suggest the only thing you should serve with vodka is lime wedges. Possibly Key Lime pie..

Big centers generally take longer, if Patrick is healthy, a breakout season wouldn't surprise me, he's probably 6'2 210 these days.
A healthy Patrick could give you 40+ ES points, 10 points on PP2 or 20 on PP1, and plus defensive play including PK duties.
That's an above average 2C, which was about his projection at the draft, everyone knew the draft seemed to lack any elite players.
Other than the 3 players taken right after him.

That being said. I wanted him even with the core injuries. After hearing about the migraine issues that were supposedly known I probably would have went elsewhere or traded back a few spots.

Let's say Patrick's migraines never existed. Even with a healthy Patrick and having seen him in his first 2 years, he's not looking like the 2nd best player in the draft.

So, yes, hindsight will probably show us that Hextall whiffed. But I think it's a whiff that every GM would have made.
Horrible take, hischier and Patrick were the consensus top two, no GM had either out of the top two. It's no one's fault Pettersson and Heiskanen ended up being the top two, and there's literally no way of telling where Patrick would be in his career without these issues.

This is probably COVID-related-fatigue, but this is the least interested I've been about a first round pick in as long as I can remember. Even Rubstov I didn't like the pick but after reading more about him still was more juiced up than I am now.

Yeah people are changing what was the actual feeling on draft day. It was WIDELY known as a 2 person draft and the Flyers had the "easy" spot of picking whoever NJ didn't.

It was also a draft that had no Matthews or McDavid(again, at the time it was seen this way). But due to Nico and Patrick expecting to be 60ish point 2 way guys, it was also seen that someone else within the draft would likely be the best player. But no body could pinpoint who because all had their flaws. If it was obvious, then that person would have went #1. It was very much seen like the 2011 draft where multiple people at different times, would be seen as the best player depending on the year with no clear cut best player emerging from the group.

You are not alone. Normally when you pick a guy, he jumps into your top 1-3 prospects for sure. He might not be top 5. Mind you other 1st like Rubstov, Morin, JOB are not either....which really sucks. Imagine having 2 more Konecny's in the pipeline or Morin being a Myers. The outlook would look mighty fine. But our prospect group after the top 4 have lots of "meh" in them even though lots of them still could turn into something good.

Morin I liked the pick and the player, I was just disappointed we didn't take Max Domi (or that we didn't trade back to take Morin). JOB is probably right around where I feel about this guy. Rubstov I came around on and that was more I really liked Bellows, Thompson, Tufte, and Jones at that time. This is just very "meh" at the moment.

There's just a huge gap between picking in the top 10-20 v 20+.
#8 Couts, #7 Provorov, #14 Farabee, #11/#14 York, even #17 Sanheim, a lot of confidence in those picks.
#19 JOB, #20 Laughton, #24 TK, #27 Frost, #22 Rubtsov, more uncertainty.

What makes Morin a killer is #11, though that was another relatively weak draft:
#12 Domi, #13 Morrisey, #14 Wennberg, #15 Pulock, #16 Zadorov, #17 Lazar, #18 Mueller, #19 Rychel, #20 Mantha,
we missed out on a starter, but not a star.

And if you want to whine about Hagg at #41:
#42 Santini, #43 Petan, #44 Jarry, #45 Sorenson, #46 Olofsson, #47 Vannelli, #48 Nastasiuk, #49 Boudreau, #50 Heatherington

I’m over the Hagg pick. What bothers me is that he’s still in the organization

He has the best shot in the draft. How is that not interesting? Have you watched any of his tape? I'm extremely interested.

Relax. Not saying it was a bad pick or anything just not generating the interest like past guys. Not sure anyone would have that was on the board other than two or three guys that I really was hoping they'd take.

Nah, don't back down. I need you to go all-in on calling this guy a scrub for the next several years. At least until he wins a Conn Smythe or something.
