Nah, don't back down. I need you to go all-in on calling this guy a scrub for the next several years. At least until he wins a Conn Smythe or something.
I'm still waiting for the return of Erik Gustaffsson. Also wondering if people still think Anthony Mantha sucks because his AHL coach said he had a disappointing first professional year? Hey how many wins did Sunshine get in the NHL last year? Did Tomas Hyka make the all-star team last year, don't remember. And so forth and so on.

Horrible take, hischier and Patrick were the consensus top two, no GM had either out of the top two. It's no one's fault Pettersson and Heiskanen ended up being the top two, and there's literally no way of telling where Patrick would be in his career without these issues.
According to reports, there was disagreement among the scouting staff, so, no, it wasn’t an automatic pick, & Hextall chose poorly.

What disagreement? Was there one guy saying someone was higher than those two? Was it 50/50? I didn't see anything from the Flyers or otherwise that would suggest this was a three or more horse race. It was Nico vs. Nolan and even leading up to or on draft night I don't think there was a lot of certainty about who would go #1.

Read Meltzer's article. There wasn't agreement among the scouting staff.

Is there a specific article you are referencing? I did a quick google search and the only thing I could find was a pre-draft article that said unless there was a clear consensus the top two weren't the top two, they would take whichever is left.

HockeyBuzz.com - Bill Meltzer - Quick Hits and Musings: Hart, Patrick, Flyers Warriors & Flyers Alumni

It's unfair to judge Patrick against players whom Ron Hextall chose to bypass with the second overall pick in 2017. He can only be judged fairly on his own merits. Patrick was not a unanimous top 2 pick internally, but context is needed. This was based on the rapid Draft-year rise of a defense prospect vs. Patrick's injury-affected Draft year. It was never a belief that Patrick did not projected as a fine NHL center who offensive and two-way upside as well as good size.

To me, the health concerns are what's paramount here. We can't even get a read -- or the beginnings of a read -- on where he'll be hockey-wise -- until such a time comes that he and his doctors feel comfortable that he can play without fear for his quality of life when he takes off his skates and leaves the rink. I'm not worried about whether the Flyers should have picked Miro Heiskanen or Cal Makar or Elias Pettersson. They didn't. They picked Patrick.

Until there's a timetable for camp and then a season, we don't even know when any Flyers will be on the ice together again. Thereafter, we don't know when Patrick would be a full participant at practices, available for a few tuneup games and then realistically ready to be green-lighted for NHL regular season games. Given all these uncertainties, I don't think it's wise to make Patrick part of Plan A this offseason. To me, though, that's a matter of pragmatism and not a judgment of the hockey player or the person.
This is the one article. Not reports. Just one poorly written article.

Yeah people are changing what was the actual feeling on draft day. It was WIDELY known as a 2 person draft and the Flyers had the "easy" spot of picking whoever NJ didn't.

It was also a draft that had no Matthews or McDavid(again, at the time it was seen this way). But due to Nico and Patrick expecting to be 60ish point 2 way guys, it was also seen that someone else within the draft would likely be the best player. But no body could pinpoint who because all had their flaws. If it was obvious, then that person would have went #1. It was very much seen like the 2011 draft where multiple people at different times, would be seen as the best player depending on the year with no clear cut best player emerging from the group.

To a point. I believe some of the change has to do with not-known to the public migraine issues (which I would have thought was a cover for concussions) Which seem to have been known by teams.

He had no migraine issues in junior hockey, that was back when he was a pre-teen.

i played NHL 18(?) with you once and i can confirm that you never let me carry the puck at all. you also called me JVR which i now take offense to considering you were basically calling me fat.

I was saying let Giroux over here do the playmaking, and you just go to the net and get some tap ins, bb. You only play Be A Pro, and I could tell you were more a situational player.

And I would never call you fat. I know full well you do too many drugs to be fat.
