If the Leafs can just win tonight, they can inadvertently kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

1) They got Tavares extra rest time by blowing a 3-1 lead making him close to returning (he wouldn't be on the ice surrounded by other players if he was still having concussion symptoms so it's likely just the knee that requires heailing).

2) Bergevin gets applauded and gets handed a 5 year extension for taking the Leafs to Game 7 even if it results in a loss.

Winning enough can erase the past. Win tonight and start erasing the shitshow that this series has been.

I have next to no faith that they will. But they can.

Shout out to those of you having a crisis of faith with this team right now. In addition to mourning the season, I've been mourning the hope I have for this core. After last year's loss I swore that I would keep my expectations low and I've broken that promise. I can't see myself making the same mistake twice.

I would love a blowout. Just take them out of misery from first period

Its hard to visualize a loss in this game with this much talent and the ability to quick strike and some of our key players due to break out.

I don't believe this is going to be a close game but rather with Leafs in control for most of it.

Wouldn't surprise me if Matthews scores multiple times today.

I'm predicting Leafs 5 - Montreal 1 .

Reactions: tom leafers
I really don’t want John to force himself to play because he thinks this team can’t get it done without him. A real “break glass in case of emergency” move that this series shouldn’t have even come to.

I hope this doesn’t mean he is rushing back to try to tip the outcome before he should.

thing is, we can be sure he's been 100% symptom free so far or else he wouldn't even be on the ice.

and if he's 100% symptom free here now 12 days later, and has been skating every day for the last 4-5 days.....well, technically it might be "rushing" him back but it's not like rushing back from an injury that hasn't healed, it would just be being a little less precautious and not waiting the 100% full period that you'd usually wait for.

They are super cautious with head injuries these days. If they let him play, he's ready. Gone are the days where the Flyers medical staff told Lindros to stop being a baby and put him on a plane with a collapsed lung that would have killed him only to be saved by his teammate Keith Jones.

That sure sounds like what it is. The captain doing what good captains do, good on him!

The win it for John has gotten old so ... win it for John, win it for Tory, win it for the ghost of Johnny Bower, win it for Pamela Anderson for all I care, just win FFS.

It should be as simple as: "Win it for yourself"

No need to win it for JT or anyone else. Prove to yourself that you belong here and further.

they wouldn’t let him take it if he wasn’t ready. Looks and sounds like he’s passed all the protocols. We can’t compare with how others who have suffered concussions recovered. Concussions affect everyone differently.

it seems like what we witness was way worse than what it actually was. Very similar to the Muzzin injury last year

Yea, there is no sense fans worrying about whether or not a guy is ready. If he is ready, he plays, if he isn't, he won't.

With that said, I'm sure JT doesn't play and is just there to hype up the guys but stranger things have happened.

I got the invite to go!
That's awesome! I'm really curious, how did you get invited? Were you just approached at work? Email to specific groups? Etc..

My wife's an ICU nurse in Hamilton and we have STH in the family. Hoping (but doubtful) there was some STH angle she may slide in under

Our robot captain.

I doubt Tavares will even get to play in the next round.
Don't get too excited people.

I have him penciled in for the Stanley Cup Finals.

Yeah I mean if he’s good to go it’s pretty miraculous considering how bad it looked.

I’m all for Tavares re-joining the team. I just want him to be 100% ready to do so. He hasn’t had any contact practice since the injury has he?
