Why are teams like Boston, Montreal, Colorado, doing well this year and are contenders at this point (and one could add on this list). Players, yes, but first and foremost the coaching and the GM.

One won the cup 3 season ago, one hasn't done squat in 20 years since winning the cup and one is the media darling because they went from last to first. Sorry dude you argument needs to go home because it's drunk. Two of those three teams won't make it past the 2 round, one round further than the Kings. FIRE EVERYONE!

Greene/Mitchell/Reghers replacement.

Yes?

Alright by me. But Ehrhoff is going to cost a lot, probably see Pearson and another high pick end up in Buffalo.

The problem with the Kings is, there championship window should be open now but it's not because so many players have completely fallen off.

I mean, how many teams that are considered contenders would still be contenders if their 1st line left wing and second line center both turned into essentially fourth line players almost overnight.

Dean has some serious contract poo poo to clean up this summer. And if he makes the wrong moves the Kings are in some trouble, this is the biggest offseason for the Kings in a long time, maybe since Dean took over in 06.

Ha, I just posted Pearson and a first after you posted this.

I still want to retain Gaborik and trading Richards (wouldn't buy him out and I think we can get something for him) would do wonders. Retool the defense as I posted earlier and then sign some one or two bottom six players. I'm so sick of the bottom six being junk.

I guarantee if we propose a Ehrhoff to LA trade to Buffalo fans, they will want Toffoli and a 1st (maybe even more) because "The recapture risk is too high so they will need an overpayment.".

Love it.

Disagree that we weren't competitive tonight. Agree that he was way too stubborn in games 1 and 2. The team obviously looked mostly fine tonight.

Why do you keep saying this? You know the Hawks had two first-round exits after the cup run, right? Technically, as of right now, we are the more successful post-cup team.

The Hawks let so many players go. They have an amazing roster. Yes two first round exits but how many teams have won the cup twice in 4 years. The kings won't win the cup unless they move pieces of the cup winning roster to get rid of the constant complacency that's clear as day the last two years in the playoffs.

I don't know why is everyone is throwing out McNabb's name out there, the guy couldn't crack the SABRES lineup and he's suddenly suppose to be our D's savior next year? lol

Richards isn't going anywhere. Kings are going to give him another season to better himself, and trust me Lombardi is going to let him know.

Leo are you aware that the summer of 2014 is the last time teams can use compliance buyouts?

You really think Dean rolls the dice with Richards knowing that if it comes up 7 and Richards is as bad or worse next season that the Kings championship window is over.

No one can win a championship with almost $12 million in cap space being used on the 3rd line lw and 4th line center.

They traded most of their players for a TOP picks and prospects. That's how they rebounded so quickly.

Yeah... McNabb is going to be our 6th at best, coming from someone who has watched him..

The Sabres are stacked on the Blue-Line with young talented players.

They look like the Kings did when

Mitchell/Scuds were rocks.

It's hard to crack that Sabers rotation.

Now that doesn't mean the Sabers Defense is good, its just young and talented.

You're right, DL isn't stupid. So he's not gonna buyout our POTENTIAL #2C (he was until this down season) and leave a huge hole and overpay in the trade market to bring another one in. If Richards proves that this really is going to be him from now on this next season, then Lombardi will move him. Not gonna act like Lombardi is pep talking Richie in the room, but he's gonna tell him he expects to bust his ass in the off-season, come out flying next training camp, or he'll be hitting the bricks.

I'm sure he will rather over pay for a second line center that plays like one rather than sit on his ass and pray that richards finds the fountain of youth.

He'd rather have a second c rather than hope for one. H

It won't be hard to find a buyer for Richards, IMO.

The Kings must at least have him in their future plans because he becomes waiver eligible next year.

But I mean he can't be worse then some of our defensemen have this series lol

Refresher: Hawks didn't 'let guys go' on purpose, Tallon ****ing forgot how to work a fax machine and the rest is history.

They retooled, added youth, added good compliments, and watched them develop, and now they're just fine. Do you think we're beyond doing that? I sure don't.

No, we haven't won the Cup twice in 4 years and not many teams have/will, just like not many teams have/will won the CUp then hit the WCF the year after. Sometimes teams take a step back before a step forward is my point, but the prevailing opinion is that we're toast/dead-in-the-water when really we have the core and assets to compete for at least several more years.

I don't know why is everyone is throwing out McNabb's name out there, the guy couldn't crack the SABRES lineup and he's suddenly suppose to be our D's savior next year? lol

You should look up why.

Hint: They have a slew of first-round picks in front of him and no dead weight.

He was good for the first 20 games, then he was introduced to hte human anchor as a partner

I disagree I was on VV's case from the start. Poor defensive zone play, no offence and broke more sticks then had shots hit the net.

We have to believe that Muzz and Voynov both improve for next year and one of Brown or Richards rebounds.

Saying that I am done with the old style lead foot crease cleaners like Greene and RR. This team needs mobility and the ability to make that first pass to break our forwards up the ice.

At the same time too much change cripples.

Build from the back. Greene and Mitchell walk, McNabb takes Greenes #7 spot, without costing us much, more talent, less beef and experience, saves us 2 mil.

Mitchell needs to be addressed in a home run swing to get DD a partner. With the 2 mil saving on Greene added to the 3.5 on Willie that gives us around 5 mil to play with.

Coaching. Sutter I love for a laugh at a presser but as a coach he has not evolved. Needs to go.

Top 6 - Gabby showed tonight why we keep him. He can still bring it and one of the only guys with speed

Williams I wanted gone last off season. He takes to many risks, and coughs up the puck, or goes offside way to much no matter what Corsica says. He is my vote for momentum killer of the year.

Give Toffoli top 6 minutes and let him shoot. This grind and dump crap with the talent on this team is sick. Carter, TT, Gabby, Kopitar all have nasty shots and creativity but it starts with speed pushing back the D, let them loose.

Richie/ Brown.- Brown is not going anywhere because of his contract and would the owners pony up the dough to buy out Richie, maybe but he was also DL's wet dream poster boy and DL doesn't seem like a guy to swallow his pride. I seen it mentioned earlier Ehrhoff for Ritchie and I am loving that. A number 2 for DD and allows Carter and his speed at centre.

Pearson - he needs time to play on the big club, start him as 3 LW or 4 LW. He has a future.

Clifford can go away. I would recoup a pick if possible.

Should never have traded CarBomb, he is not the greatest hockey player but has energy, hustle and heart and will stand up for teammates

Move Brown to RW and reset the poor dude. He needs a long summer off to rest his body and mind. I would say strip him of the C but I can not pick one guy who would be better.

Toffoli really needs to stop being thought of as some sort of God around here. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Pearson ends up being better.

Kings can still buy him out after 2014.....It will just cost more and go against the cap.

I don't know why is everyone is throwing out McNabb's name out there, the guy couldn't crack the SABRES lineup and he's suddenly suppose to be our D's savior next year? lol

Not the savior.

He will take over Greene's role as the 7th d-man and save the Kings $2 million in cap space. He should not be seen as a savior.

But with Greene and Mitchell gone that is about $6.5 mill in cap space and McNabb takes over almost $1 mill. That leaves a nice chunk of change to use towards a replacement for Mitchell and cover raises for AMart and Muzzin.

Richards will be bought out, that is $5.75 million, assuming Vey replaces him as 4C that is $4.75 mill to get a winger to play with Carter. Plus the cap is going up a bit.

Kings will be ok cap wise if Dean is willing to say bye to some of his "sons"

Toffoli really needs to stop being thought of as some sort of God around here. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if Pearson ends up being better.

I don't think of him as a god, I'd just rather not give up the only REAL replacement we have for one of our veteran contracts (Williams) + 1st to fill a hole in another area.. When it will just open one more.

They traded most of their players for a TOP picks and prospects. That's how they rebounded so quickly.

Beauty logic by them, honestly, I'd rather have faith in some amazing players coming up and exiting knowing better players will replace them soon. Who do we have to rely on us to save us ? No one.

Many teams will start trying to do similar things to that.it's literally impossible to get players to play the same way after they won the cup.
