This team needs a Patrick Roy kind of a coach. This team seems too passive.

But it's more on the players than the coach. If DL makes some big moves this years, and we still play like ****. Then you start looking at DL and sutter.

If we dont make a miracle like philly did against boston in '10 playoffs. I say drop sutter pick up peter laviolette

Everyone just looks too tired. Stuff like that happens after 2 runs this long and it's showing. Saw the same from Pittsburgh and Detroit after their back to back Finals. And Chicago after their Cup did not look great versus Phoenix.

Team definitely needs changes still. Too hard to expect much after that sadly.

Richie -2 and on for the pp goal against. Last 12 gp 0-0-0pts and -5...last 34 games 4g and 2a for 6 whopping pts. Suttter cost us this one when he started giving Richie more ice time. Something has to be wrong with him. He plays like he is wasted, cant give or take a pass, friggin wobbly all the time.

PP goal against - he was not on the ice.
3rd goal - him and Carter were the ones at least attempting to stop Hertl after a power play
4th goal - Voynov missed a clear and Richards actually tried to cover for Lewis when he missed coverage on Marleau and then Voynov tipped the shot into his own net

Wow, really looks like it was all Richards fault doesn't it? Sutter gave him more ice time cause he was playing well. If it's Stoll or Kopitar out there, no one would've even noticed. If you look at the plays you'd realize that Richards doesn't have anything to do with those goals.

Exactly.

And a lot of it has to do with terrible defense drafting late in the last decade.

Hickey (07), Teubert (08) and Forbort (10) all drafted with Top 15 picks. Hickey and Teubert busted and never played a game for the Kings and Forbort's development has been disappointing.

The trade for McNabb was a direct result of those disaster draft picks by Dean, they needed to pick up a defenseman in his early 20's that could step in because none of those guys did.

The defense of this team is in bad bad shape.

Nah, I think we can retool this offseason. Cut ties with Mitchell and Greene, bring up McNabb, and go all-in for Ehrhoff. That would certainly go a LONG way.

He is actually right though.....

Sharks are the better team, no disputing that.

He's a ****ing clown. Like we don't all know the better team is the one leading 3-0? :shakehead

Brad Doty,

I agree with you, other than one lazy play that ended up in our net, Richards had a solid 4th liners game. But this goes beyond one game, if the only way MR is going to look comfortable is in a 4th line role then he is gone. Like LITN said, Richards had the type of game you would expect from Clifford when he plays well. At almost $6 million a year you simply need more, and Mike Richards can't provide that anymore.

He will go to a new team and probably be a pretty good 3rd or 4th line center (like he was when DS played him there), he will be matching up with other 3rd and 4th line centers and very well could be a somewhat valuable player to his new team in a limited role, but he will be doing it at likely 40-50% of what he is being paid by the Kings, and at a much shorter contract length.

If Mike Richards made 3 million a year through 2016, no one would want him gone this badly, but that's not the case, pretty much everyone outside of the people who are Mike Richards fans first and Kings fans second sees that.

Dustin Brown, aka Captain Invisible.

I hope Thursday is the last as a King for him.

3 seasons he has been awful, and the only reason he is still here is because he went into an unsustainable beast mode with the threat of a trade. Time for Dean to send a message to the "leadership" of this team.

Pathetic.

Fully agreed.

This is much less the 2012 Canucks disintegrating and much more a team that can retool on the go. Most teams would kill to have Kopitar-Doughty-Quick as a base to start. We've got that and much more, assets and prospects, and a great drafting team.

Okay so Richards had the game I'd expect Clifford to have at 6 times the cap hit. Hooray for the moral victory...but his time has come. Looking at his contract and what he brings to the team is shocking. We need a producer in his spot.

Haha, ok, you know what, I'm not going to bother arguing for the guy at 2 AM with a bunch of people who just blindly hate him at this point. Have fun trading all our 2012 Champions to Edmonton or whatever. I'm out.

.

Look, I know he is your guy and all, but come on, you lose all credibility with that comment.

Richards was lazy on that goal. There was no effort or urgency, which was true of MR's game for almost the entire season.

I think your a quality poster and hope you hang around even when MR is bought out, but wow this post is so wrong.

DL also should go. But this will not happen until we have the slow but sure downfall that the Canucks have had since their appearance in the Finals 3 years ago. It is more than apparent that this team is badly coached, uninspired, at many times disorganized and with all the line juggling by DS instability settles in.

Why are teams like Boston, Montreal, Colorado, doing well this year and are contenders at this point (and one could add on this list). Players, yes, but first and foremost the coaching and the GM.

Ya it has nothing to do with being terrible the past 10 years and drafting McKinnon, Duschene and Landeskog in the top 3 the past 5 years :shakehead

The only person that might be gone is Richards, due to salary.

He won't be traded, he will be bought out.....

Brown is going nowhere...And he will be the Captain next year as well.

That's a reasonable post and I don't fully disagree, I'm sure something happens with Richards unless it comes out he's playing with broken everythings, I'm just saying people going out of their way to scapegoat him tonight when there are plenty of other candidates are just watching with a confirmation bias.

Er, no. This is the first down year of his career. You're entitled to your opinions like the last line, but don't spew fact-less nonsense.
