Three bad games and some unfortunate bounces and the sky is falling. Wow.

San Jose has just exposed what we already knew: our defense isn't nearly as good as it was in 2012. Greene is worse, Mitchell is worse, Regehr isn't a viable replacement for Scuderi, and Muzzin should be playing bottom-pairing minutes. No shocker there. We have guys in the system to replace these defensemen. Forbort, Gravel, McNabb. Some fresh legs that want to win.

McNabb - Doughty
Gravel - Voynov
Martinez - Greene

Hey, all of a sudden, we might have a real defense again. Two rookies isn't great, and it may be better to try to bring in a stay at home guy, but we can address that in the off season.

As for the top six? Hell, put the rookies together next year.

Gaborik - Kopitar - Carter
Pearson - Vey - Toffoli

Then have a solid bottom six:

King - Richards - Brown
Clifford - Stoll - Lewis

That's a competitive team right there, with plenty of cap space to find some players if need be. No more Mitchell, Regehr, or Williams (although I wouldn't mind him staying... I just feel he will be gone). I also wouldn't be surprised if King and Stoll were gone next year, too.

Our biggest hole is definitely second-line center. It's either Carter time or Vey steps up... or we look outside our system.

Thomas Hickey is a damn fine Defender for the NYI.

That is a mistake by Lombardi letting him go I think.

Never giving him a shot is a mistake too.I don't care how packed your blue line is , but you have to try out your young defenseman some time and not trade them for scraps.

They kept Muzzin, but I felt Hickey had the higher IQ....

Sorry, this roster is only allowed 3 "puck-movers" total. The blueline needs moar size!!!!

Can't wait to see the contract Dean offers Brooks Orpik this summer.

Who would you have dumped to keep him here? People seem to forget the Hickey issue had a lot to do with contracts.

I would still expect Brown to score 20 goals from third line play.

Your bottom six has to produce and Brown is capable of that.

We are going to just have to agree to disagree. There is no way any player on the Kings playing this style is going to score 20+ goals in a season playing outside the top 6.

Brown did his job very well. He is and always has been a 3rd line player, that did a great job playing on the top lines until more talent came in. I mean, look at how much better Kopitar has looked playing with top line talent just in the short while Gaborik has came in, even with williams playing crappy.

I'll have what your smoking.

Vey is not going to be an NHL top six Center. His game at center is just not that good.

The hopes and prayers if your looking at the Kings system....

Nick Shore.

No scraps man: complete giveaway.

Ridiculous that he couldn't get a cup of coffee at some point. Effing Piskula got to play up here. Hell, I'll throw Drewiske in the same equation as well.

Never understood how they developed Hickey. Everyone gives a Top 5 pick a chance at The Show unless they are a complete disaster, which he wasn't.

Quick has been brutal these playoffs, anyone who says otherwise hasn't seen quick on his game.

It's pretty stupid Sutter kept him in the game, the dude keeps getting ran and he's losing composure. Quicks head wasn't even in the game. The best proof was when he was hugging coutures leg. Dudes not in it. Start Jones next game. Gives your team a better shot.

Quick on his game still got beat up high.

Quick off his game gives up goals through his pads, weird goals from bad angles, etc.

I didn't see any of that.

And you're gonna **** on a guy that faced more shots in one period than what he normally faces in a whole game?

Get real. Seriously.

I think it's plainly obvious how good Kopitar can be with a real winger. And that's just one. And it's a hobbled Gaborik. Williams is like the stooge of that line and they still got it done.

Keep the high finesse on the top line, and retool from 4-12.

I will be shocked if all three of Williams, Richards, and Brown are on this team next year. One of those guys needs to go.

We should all agree that the fell good vibes of 2012 end with a 1st round loss this season.

No more excuses. The guys that won that Cup, DL, Sutter etc...will always be Kings legends but myself and others don't pay for season seats every year just so we can look at the banner hanging up there, except for maybe Ron who wants to poo all over anyone who has negative things to say.

This team has a window: not a guarantee. Status quo is not going to cut it. I'm pretty excited for this summer and next season...I hope I am not disappointed.

You ignored what I said. They had to dump players due to too many contracts. Hickey got axed in that process. So who would you have dumped?

Muzzin, I even like Muzzin.....

I would have picked Hickey. Hickey has the higher hockey IQ.

Hickey was always known for his first pass, that is what is killing the Kings in this season.

The transition game.

Look at the head coaches. Murray and Sutter love size on the back end more than Sir Mix A Lot. They're obsessed with the old paradigm of big bruisers beating opposing forwards into submission. The post lock outs NHL is exposing that dinosaur mentality. Teams like San Jose and Chicago have zero fear of our big hulking d. They skate right past them, laughing.

We all love the guy to death.

He's been hot trash in the playoffs and was weaker in the regular season than he was in 2012.

He was weak in the Chicago series and put up mediocre numbers this regular season.

Guy is still a stud. Doesn't mean he is immune to criticism though. I feel he needs a break the most behind Brown.

One period.where he faced pretty easy shots.I known it's crazy but our defense was pretty good the third period.he's given up 16 goals in 3 games. Is that quick like ? Do you even remember Terry Murray times how badly we were getting dominated and quick kept us in the game.

It's absolute horse crap if you think hes not been bad just because it's a flukey shot or a deflection doesn't mean it automatically beats the goalie. No goalies always make tough saves and he hasnt.

And you know why it's probably because brown has been running him non stop and he's getting no calls. Quick is pissed off and the sharks have gotten into his head with all that contact.

But it worked. It also seems to work for Boston an despite being able to skate circles around everyone, the Sharks are still cupless so it hasn't exactly worked yet.

I don't agree with having 3 rookies on the second line, but speaking of smoking things, didn't you propose that Richards should be named captain for next season?

I am starting to question if Vey can even play bottom six minutes in the NHL.

Nick Shore is ten times the Center Vey is.

Sorry, I don't blame Quick for the losses but he's been terrible. Slow to go post to post, lost sight of the puck on numerous occasions and kept coming out to challenge shots when he knew he didn't have the defense to do it.

I'll have what you're smoking. I'd still take Muzzin over Hickey now.

How often do you watch Hickey play?

The Kings didn't need to choose one or the other. Muzzin isn't a puck mover/offensive defenseman. He's a stay-at-home, plodder with a good wrist shot. Hickey is a puck mover with a high IQ.
