Y'know what? If he wasn't making so much money and wasn't the team captain, I don't think we'd be as critical of him. Look at how we judge a player like Lewis, for the most part met with indifference by a majority, but that wouldn't be the case had he been earning a ridiculous amount of money.

That's the big problem facing Brown. He's a player who cannot live up to his stature due to his contract and the letter on his chest. How many captains in the league are as inefficient as Brown?

And people forget we had Brown for peanuts for a long time before this contract kicked in.

Man I feel for you guys after watching the highlights..

I noticed that Quick bobbled the puck a few times when shot towards his catching hand...is he hurt?

Could be. Who knows? I'm sure he's exhausted and no one can say he quit on the team. Quick's near the bottom on the list of players I'm worried about.

Jesus, I don't know why I bother to read the **** that is this thread.

If the Kings do bow out early, I know one thing for sure. If the STH are anything close to the posters in this thread, I am going to have my pickings to upgrade my seats come this summer.

The thing about Williams is, you are not going to get anything of worth for him.

No team is going to trade a top six player for Williams, Why would they ?

so you give up Williams for a pick and a B prospect...ok.

What if Toffoli turns out to be not able to handle those minutes ?

He is already weak in all areas of the ice save his shot....He sure as hell isn't a possession guy.

Then the Kings are stuck with a hole now on the right side.

Toffoli was leveling so many people today. Give him some time. He's gonna be good. He's learning more and more every game.

Don't trade JW for a player. Some picks would be nice.

Kind of a side note and I don't want to open that can of worms but just like Brown is completely unable to draw calls anymore Quickie is in the same boat. Never mind the embellishments, he's been trucked a couple of times with not even a second look by the refs. We really need to get in Niemi's kitchen the same way.

In my opinion, these guys should be locks next season:

Forwards: Kopitar, Carter, Gaborik, Stoll, Lewis, King, Toffoli, Pearson
Defensemen: Doughty, Voynov, Martinez, Muzzin, McNabb
Goaltenders: Quick, Jones

That's 8F, 5D, 2G.

As much as we want the team to get rid of the contracts of Brown and Richards, you know the sad truth is that they'll be back with the team next season. I would also say that Regehr would've been a good candidate to be bought out but sadly I think that he's brought back as the #6-7 veteran dman to replace the departing Mitchell.

Nolan and Clifford are signed for one more year, but I could see either one or both being dealt in order for the team to give looks to hungrier players like Andreoff or Shore.

I think the veteran most likely to be moved will be Williams. The guy just doesn't have it anymore. He used to be able to hang onto the puck, win board battles, make plays, take the puck to the net, and y'know, shoot the puck, but he's lost all of that. I think a return to the east is in his horizon.

Niemi will get those calls though and it's a little late to try to rattle him. Giving up penalties in the hopes that he softens mentally isn't gonna help in an elimination game.

You can't blame Brown for the Contract. LOMBARDI and the OWNER SIGNED IT>

Dustin Brown put his terms on the table....and Lombardi and AEG SIGNED IT.

Knowing full well what they were doing. Signing an inconsistent Streaky Captain to a lot of money.

How is that Brown's fault ?

You can blame Brown for his piss poor play this year.

But that contract is not his fault, He didn't even have an agent.

You can have mine. :) Not becasue of the playoffs, just life getting in the way. Missed literally about half the home games this year. After 12 seasons, it's time to hang 'em up.

I presume most people are/were resisting/scared of it because why would you dismantle a team that had just been to the cup and WCF? That was my reason, at least; regardless of how the team performed this year they had earned the chance to prove themselves in the playoffs yet again. I think you'll find people much more open to the idea moving forward if we don't win this one in 7.

But people act like some of these players are a rarity. When in reality there's a dime a dozen.

Since some of the guys had down years, I thought about what Duncan Keith said after they won the cup in 2010, that Hockey stopped being a top priority and it was difficult to play the game cos he lost the passion for it. 16 guys from the roster are from the cup win and this is the 1st full season after winning the cup...so maybe some of them are just playing for their paychecks?? idk

You described Brown from every year in his career outside of a 2012 playoff run.

Dustin Brown has ALWAYS been a streaky winger who's (Game) is hit or miss.

The guy has only been consistent on the score sheet.

But did everyone just forget that every single year, from when Brown was made Captain.

There has been a (Strip Brown of the C thread), it happens every year.

The guy is an inconsistent winger HIS WHOLE CAREER.

This is not new.

The Kings knew what they were getting when they signed him to that contract.

He will be back to that Inconsistent play next year, and probably put up 20G and 40+ P and 250 hits again.

Guys.....The Brown of the 2012 playoffs......It not going to show up for 82 games.....HE NEVER HAS.

The Kings management knows that....

I will bet anything Brown will not hit 20 goals again. I've said it before, his stats are the results of getting to play with Kopitar for so long. Most of this season I've given him a pass for being hurt, but he's the captain of this team and has disappeared completely off this team.

Stoll played with some balls tonight. Wish the rest would have done the same.

Again with Toffoli....Guys actually watch the kid play....

He makes plenty of mistakes.

He lost a puck tonight that he had 80/20 and just glided too it......

Then proceeded to be on the wrong side of the puck.

The Kid is just that, a Kid.

And it was a stupid move on their part. This guy had 29 points in 46 games last season in a lockout year and vanished in the playoffs with only 3 goals and 4 points in 18 games.

He follows that up with 27 points in 72 games this season. This extension is going to look as laughable as the David Clarkson contract. I'm just cringing typing those numbers. Excuse me, I'm going to have to barf.

The only person that might be gone is Richards, due to salary.

He won't be traded, he will be bought out.....

Brown is going nowhere...And he will be the Captain next year as well.
I think there is a real chance with maurice as coach in Winnipeg that the overpay for richards with a kane 1 for 1 swap.

I am obviously not a current season ticket holder. But If I were still a STH I would renew regardless. People are simply discussing changes to the roster that makes the Kings have a better chance of being a contender like they were in 2012 and 2013 as opposed to a run of the mill playoff team like this year.

2012 was awesome, we can all remember it and enjoy it, but it should have no bearing on how the team is built in 2015.

Brown did not play with Kopitar till 2012.....And had multiple 20G season before hand...

If I am correct he didn't play a single regular shift with Kopitar in his 30 goal season.

Can we not be stupid please guys.

Brown is being paid for past performance and the fact that he is the first Kings player to ever touch the cup while wearing a Kings uniform. David Clarkson's greatest achievement as a Leaf will be being suspended 10 games for leaving the bench in a preseason game.

That's the spirit. Nothing like a closer view of watching Lewis for the next 2 years ....:sarcasm:

Brown got a 2.8 million dollar raise, he deserved it after the 2012 playoff's.

Probably shouldn't have been 8 years, but Lombardi signed the Contract.
