Michkov is back to the lineup and he's back to Khusnutdinov and Tyanulin.

Love the breakaway goal. Accept the breakout pass from his own goalie and put it through the wickets. Slick. "Please sir can I have some more?"

That is definitely an AI generated "Russian name"

Also, is Michkov wearing the neck guard now?

Lastly, a sincere thank you to you and all others who post these clips here. It's one of the few bright spots to following this team.

He's a Minnesota prospect, going to play in the NHL next season. And he's Tatar that's why the name.

I asked Tyanulin if Michkov knew any Tatar since he is on a line with two Tatar guys...

he said no, and that they were trying to teach him English first before they got started on Tatar lmao.

Fazleev is actually a good friend of Tyanulin as another Tatar guy.

Hm, Tyanulin is Tatar? The last name isn't Tatar 110%.

He might not be ethnically... but he is ofc born in Tatarstan and speaks some Tatar at the least, and I guess is proud to be from Kazan. I belive him, Gareyev, Khafizov and Khusnutdinov all speak to some level. Aparently Khafizov is the only one who is fluent though.

Ah, he's from Kazan. There are almost as many Russians as Tatars living in Kazan, and of course he should speak some Tatar because as far as I remember they learn Tatar in schools.

I have a question regarding Michkov's loan to Sochi. Hopefully someone here is more familiar with the KHL player loans and more specifically the loan term of Michkov.

Though technically it is not impossible for Sochi to make playoffs it seems highly improbable for them to snag the 8 seed from Dinamo. So assuming Sochi is eliminated could Michkov be recalled and play for SKA in playoffs?

Nah, the KHL season is over for him.

I have a more interesting question: can he be loaned to NHL/AHL for the rest of the season? Flyers are obviously not interested to play him for more than 9 games, but they could send him to AHL just to get some practice while he can't play in KHL.

If I understand it correctly, to do so, the Flyers need to sign a contract with him which they can't do, because Michkov has a contract in KHL.

I kind of hope he gets loaned to sochi again next season rather than play for SKA. I really think that if Michkov is on Sochi again next season they make playoffs with moderate roster improvements. It is more fun and impressive he can help take an organization from the bottom to the top than just being on another one of many great SKA hockey teams.

Last season Sochi was astrocious with 11 wins all year. They aren't great this year, but it is nearly twice as many wins as last season. If they make playoffs next year with that climb from the bottom.... it just seems like a way cooler legacy to have
