INMO. You spend way too much time reading what randos say on this pointless forum.

Because why? Let us know about the urgency you pointed out.

Because this organization wants to build from the 4th line out and is horrific at developing players. Players who succeed routinely do so despite their treatment and what they're told to do. I mean, have you seen the last decade?

The proof is in the pudding. This team has shown nothing in terms of how to properly develop young players. In fact, their head coach hates skill and he's shown it plenty of times where he prefers 4th line grinders instead of players with offensive talent.

well I guess there is no hope then. as no high draft pick from the rebuild phase can ever reach NHL usefulness. with such a demonstrated horrific development approach. Is that your POV? Or do you have a more nuanced view?

It has been a decade after all, as you say, since anything good happened. From a player development standpoint.

List what you think are all their player development successes.

Konecny. Sanheim. Couturier Giroux. Hart. Farabee. Brink. Zemula. Gostisbehere. Laughton. Schenn, B.

These are just the players with significant Flyer pedigree. Took me 30 seconds.

P.S. All of this pissing match just to be reminded how useless it is to have Michkov to be advised by Flyer staff. Or not. Period. I suggest it's not the end of the world to let him speak to Flyer advisors.

Couturier, Giroux, Laughton, all predate the current development priorities put in place by Hextall and kept ever since. Even then, they handled Couturier atrociously and did nothing to grow his offensive game. He succeeded despite them.

They absolutely blew Schenn. A player they couldn't figure out and who got it together when he left.

Hart, sure. I guess. Goalies are luck and voodoo.

Ghost and TK have both been pretty open about how they got better once they started ignoring what the team was telling them to do, so that's the opposite of good development. They had no idea what to do with Ghost the whole time he was here.

Sanheim is a development disaster. The franchise had even less of an idea of what to do with him than Ghost. They did their best to trade him and lucked into failing. Who knows what he could be has they put him in position to succeed like they did with Provorov.

Zamula is a development failure. His handling has been disgraceful.

The Flyers despise offensive hockey. Michkov does not need the Flyers telling him to stop being "cute." Or to stop playing a possession game. Or to slow down. Or to focus on defense over scoring. All things they've told players, and punished them for. Michkov already knows more about winning hockey in 2023 than everybody in this front office combined. There is nothing of value any of them can tell him. You don't get to where the Flyers have been by being good at development and evaluation. You get the by being very bad at those things.

Are you going to sit there and seriously tell me that Chris Stewart and Colby Armstrong’s shittier brother know less about being a good hockey player than MM?

Except none of those players you listed were successfully developed because of the Flyers staff.

Do you not remember the Couturier situation? If it wasn't for him and Giroux demanding staff to give him a larger offensive role, he would either still be centering our 3rd line, or centering another team's top line after being traded for a 30 year old 4th liner

Crazy huh?

Q league scoring champion and almost a PPG in the AHL during the lockout, and had to beg for an offensive role because he was so good defensively.
