Michkov is the first step in acquiring elite game breakers. With every bone in my body I want to emphasize: they cannot consider things done on that front and slap the Blue Jackets Torts seal of approval. I'm not even sold on them having another true 1st line talent in the organization (besides TK, which might not be for long). The rest is still all complementary types, at best, defense and forward. Don't f*** up this gift. The irony of the anti-rebuild types saying "you can't win with 1 player, Buffalo, blah blah" doesn't escape me.

Did, uh, they leak that to Friedman?

They do think things are done on that front. They sincerely believe having too much talent is bad.

Is there any chance we see Michkov at Rookie camp this year? Has anyone heard anything?

On that note, does anyone know when Rookie camp is?

What are his options for voiding his SKA contract? He seems to think he can get out of it before it’s up.

No idea. But I did find his comments after the draft interesting. Not sure what the rules are regarding an NHL team possibly buying out a KHL contract. Got imagine with sanctions taking a bite out of their economy that SKA might be receptive to taking a cash buyout for a star player that doesn't really want to be there,

Also, considering the war, might not really be something the Flyers want to do - pay a Russian oligarch-owned team any sum of money .. even if it wasn't directly affected by sanctions.

The thing is that while SKA is managed by Rotenberg, he isn't an owner, owner is Gazprom - a corporation worth about 300+ billion of $, so good luck with interesting them with some cash buyout.

I love this pick.

Besides Bedard he has the most oomph potential of all prospects. I feel like he's a psycho kind of a diva and the sick thing is that I believe Flyers need something like that, something drastic. He has that special look in his eye, like an ice cold killer in some way lol.

I wouldn't mind if they would've traded a player to pick Dvorsky afterwards either but hey, you can't have them all.

A faceless corporation, made up of wealthy oligarchs, is the exact kind of “entity” that would value money above all else.

If Couturier magically heals and can actually have a good number of healthy years, I can’t imagine the damage him and Matvei could do. Couturier has always had an uncanny ability to play to anyone’s strengths.

Since you guys decided to go with Russians anyway:

Naah, i prefer Kiviharju. Michkov is enough. Perhaps even adding one center more, so that the Flyers can compete against the Devils and Hughes-Hischier. Because they will be strong now and for a long future.

Also, let's not forget Helenius nor Hemming. I believe Demidov will get selected before them but if the Flyers pick Kiviharju and have the luck to pick them later on? Well now we are talking. That would be a serious rebuild for the future and a balanced one.

I don’t think you understand.

We just used up every shred of luck we’ve been storing for the past 50+ years. It’ll be 50 years before we get anything nice again.

Money yes, just not a million or something that the Flyers would be willing to invest in the process.
