Someone posted an article under Meltzer's tweet about Rotenberg. It sounds like he was essentially saying they are developing players to be stars and they don't want him to leave until he is 100% ready.

It's Google Translation, so maybe someone who knows Russian would be able to see if it sounds as sinister or hard line as what the other tweet says.

Ротенберг заявил, что будет работать над развитием Мичкова в СКА

Rotenberg basically says players should be 100% to ready when they go aboad (to NHL). Furthermore he says SKA is committed to developing Michkov.
Standard stuff, really.

His highlights are crazy. Didn’t realize he pulled off “the Michigan” 5 times in game already, thought it was only once. Then watching him drilling where every other time he either does the Michigan or floats it over the net and bats it out of mid air.

Is it a positive if our development staff is nowhere near him for 3 years?

Michigan was his 1st goal for Team Russia, and I mean national team not junior, at Euro Tour vs Sweden, at the same tournament where he became the youngest player ever to play for Soviet/Russian national team. Michigan was his game winning goal in the Kharlamov Cup's final game (MHL playoffs), and Michigan was his last KHL (at the moment) goal.

Yeah. The other tweet sounded way more threatening than what it seemed like he actually said. Thanks for confirming.

I see no need to rush him getting over to the NHL.

Kucherov, Kaprizov, Panarin, Tarasenko, Kuznetzov, Ovechkin, and Malkin all developed just fine in Russia. He's not going to be missing anything here.

Let's delay those sweet ELC years closer to his prime.
I am pretty sure if he doesn’t come over for 3 years his ELC will only be 1 year. The ELC length is based on age of signing player.

Edit - it might be 2.

Looks like it will be three years if he signs an ELC in spring/summer 2026. It only matters what his age will be on 9/15/2026. The chart and language from the CBA:

As used in this Article, "age," including "First SPC Signing Age," means a Player's age on September 15 of the calendar year in which he signs an SPC, regardless of his actual age on the date he signs such SPC.

As far as I understand if you sign a contract before July, 1st, it will be considered a previous year contract.

The best thing would be him coming over in 2026 if we're being honest. Despite all this nonsense from Briere and Torts about winning every game possible, the Flyers need to suck horribly for at least two more years in order to draft elite talent. They need a Celebrini or Eiserman next year and at least one more high-end stud before Michkov arrives. Add them to Tippett, Gauthier, Foerster, York, Frost, Bonk, etc. and this is a team who will soon be able to score a lot of goals.

Like Jones said, re: recruiting players -- when the Flyers are ready to go on a run they can add a couple of key free agents (likely a high-end veteran defenseman and center) to support the kids.

The playbook is there -- in order to go on a legit Cup run, you need elite talent in the draft -- The Pens, Hawks, Kings, Bolts, and Avs proved that. Vegas is an anomaly, exploiting a unique expansion draft scenario to build a winner.

Have you watched much of Demidov? He looks spectacular in the highlights I watched, but that's obviously not a full picture of a player. I'm interested to hear more about him.

He plays the same position as Michkov, RW. At least mostly. He had an experience to play center too.

As to the kid, well, he's crazy entertaining. Probably even more entertaining than Michkov. Skating and stickhandling are Kharlamov/Makarov level. He basically doesn't have any weak sides, but if you compare him to Michkov there are a few main differences. Demidov is the better skater overall, maybe even the better stickhandler, but not sure about this. Where Michkov is clearly better is IQ and shot.

If Demidov has top NHLer level IQ, Michkov has Crosby level IQ. And his shot is quicker and more precise.

No chance he didn't place a separate GrubHub order for a cheesesteak or two for himself.
Or two? How about or 10.

Make no mistake I like this draft pick and have no problem with his timeline but, let me guess he is a right winger . That makes Atkinson TK Tippet Allison Brink Forster Michkov . We are just about as bad with Goalies Hart Sandstrom Errson Bjarnson and our now 3 Russian goalies .

Meanwhile we are short on Center D and left wingers
You worry about a glut of RWs in 3 years.

Thanks, bud.

I wonder when was the last time the Flyers had players do this kind of drill, 2012?
How do you think Torts feels seeing video of him practicing the Michigan and the toss it over the net to himself move (let alone the multiple times he's pulled off the Michigan in big game situations)?

I'm just happy we have skills coaches that can teach our guys how to protect themselves in a fight. I'm sure Michkov needs work on that. He may have soft hands with the puck, but how is he at dropping the gloves?

I am overjoyed that Tortorella will be gone. Because he would put a stop to it.
