Seravalli on Nasty Knuckles:

- He checked in with the league on Thursday and confirmed that a buyout of Michkov's contract is possible, but the league would need some proof to see that his contract was satisfied.

Interesting because there seems to be some conflicting information here, so it's nice to hear that Servalli got confirmation from the league. ASF in the post-draft STG episode said the opposite about a possible buyout, saying that a buyout would not be allowed because the NHL "paused their agreement with the KHL" post-Ukraine. (However, a mutual buyout would still be allowed, like what Miroshnichenko did this spring.)

who needs Cialis when you have this guys’ highlights
And that's exactly why they had to draft Bonk too.

In Michkov's case, I'd really like to hear that the Flyers are keeping their heads down and spouting the appropriate platitudes, i.e., "We are looking forward to Matvei finishing his contract with SKA. When he is ready to come to North America, we are eager to welcome him to Philadelphia." They can do all of the cloak and dagger stuff behind the scenes, but there is no need to provoke any of the power brokers into making Michkov another example of thwarting the NHL.

I completely agree. And it's not a conversation we should even be considering until 2024 at the very least, maybe 2025.

But it is still nice to know that the buyout option does exist should there be any reason to want him here sooner than expected.

Comcast should also be preparing to offer free Peacock subscriptions to every Russian to help grease the skids.

I want to love this pick, because if we are honest, he is clearly the most offensively talented prospect we have ever drafted.

But man, it's really, really hard with the situation in Ukraine. He might have a staunch anti-war view, but until he's in the country for good and away from that shit stain of a dictator we aren't going to know. It's really, really tough to root for any Russian at the moment.

The Russian people aren't wholly and completely responsible for what's going on over there. Hell they don't even know the truth with the propaganda they are fed.

5 years, you say, Grant?

He thinks Nick Suzuki is a world class player for whatever reason.

I have no idea why he has such strong conviction on Montreal’s future right now. I’m very indifferent towards Montreal in general so it’s not like I have some bias against them. But I’m just not seeing enough in their entire organization at this moment to think they’re a team destined to be at the top in the future at the current rate. They look like a team that will be closer to the middle to me.

I say the same about the Flyers as well.
