I don't think anyone is praying. That was the talk before the draft. Now that we've watched it at the world juniors and the NCAA, it's clear that he is more of a driver than a passenger.

"Fox, but a forward."

Now, in February, the comp has grown and what we all had hoped he'd show us, he has shown us.

G-Money is seeming to be the real deal. Can't wait until we see him without the other two.

Ranked #7.

Ngl i think Button’s off his rocker for having Perreault below not just Gauthier but Smith as well. I can see the argument for Leonard maybe, but I just really don’t trust the hockey IQ of Smith or Gauthier that much

1. Nikishin
2. Michkov
3/4. Leonard/Perreault
5. Gauthier
6. Smith
7. Ritchie

Ranked #7.
I'm actually higher on GP than Cutter, Leonard or Smith. In fact I'd take him over all of the players on that list ahead of him that I'm familiar with, I haven't seen the two Russians play this year, and Michkov wasn't rated too far behind Bedard, so I won't go there.
The important thing though is he IS ranked as "Elite." It will all get sorted out with time, but when all is said and done, GP might be the 3rd or 4h best player from his draft, and that draft included Bedard and Michkov, obviously.

Yea it's kinda crazy, if Smith wasn't 4th overall he wouldn't be that high. I've been much more impressed with Gabe than Smith from the 10 or so games i've watched this season (WJC and College).

They are all good players. I think we're splitting hairs with regards to who is in what order. I get the hockey IQ argument, but Gauthier has physical tools that Gabe does not, which shouldn't be discounted.

For all the criticism that Smith gets, he's only 3 points behind Gabe. And if you look at the numbers last year, even though Gabe outscored him, Smith's points per game average was slightly better. So again, I think we're splitting hairs. All of these players are likely to be successful at the next level. Considering that Gabe was drafted 23rd overall, Button putting him 7th among all drafted players is quite the accomplishment.

Yeah. I was just happy to see him ranked as "elite."

didn't he have Kravtsov #1?
Lots of people were wrong on him, just like lots of people were wrong on Grachev and many other players. I remember Grachev being highly rated for several years in TSN future watch, and we all know how that turned out.

If you're going to use Kravtsov as a way to discount Button's ranking Gabe behind the other 3 BC players, you can just as easily use that argument to suggest that Gabe at 7 is too high.

The point is not to take his rankings that seriously. It's his opinion. It's not written in stone as God's truth.

Button also listed Kravtsov as a centre in his rankings, because he mostly only seen him play in the WJCs.

That was when I stopped putting any stock in his rankings and player rundowns at all. No more than any other fan, anyway.

Now that we're near the end of the Prospect Ranking Polls, I've finally flip-flopped on Perreault vs Othmann. I had them close, but gave Otter the edge. He's progressed quite nicely since being drafted and has a TON of tools in his toolbox.

Perhaps I was being a bit of a size queen (LOL), and I didn't want to knee-jerk react to Gabe's hot start, especially coming off of the high of simply being lucky enough that he dropped to us in the first place. But now I'm officially Perreault-pilled. He already won the first round, but I'm post hoc changing my vote, so now he wins by another vote (technically 2 more votes since I'm switching mine).

I don't want to rush the kid, but hot damn! He's just so smart and creative.
