Draft Round 1 #23: New York Rangers Select RW Gabriel Perreault (Boston College, NCAA)

I'm not sure he will see it as 'rushing' if he leads the entire nation in scoring as a Freshman though...

If we look at it from the kids eyes, he just dominated his first season at the next level. He can make SUBSTANTIAL money moving on. I understand we would prefer he stays for another year but he may see it otherwise...
If it's about money then start a collective and tell him to stay the F in school.

I don’t want to rush him, but if he continues to do what he’s doing and Drury can get him on the World’s team and he does it there. It will be tough to tell him no.

He is the real deal.... every ranger fan is praying. Its just that how many of these points are due to the other two studs with whom he is paired?

On his last game against UMASS, he and his line were much more active/noticeable all game compared to Friday where they were pretty much shut down all night by a tight UMASS defense.

One really encouraging moment was when UMASS scored two quick goals to take the lead 3-2, the next shift, Gabe seemed to take it personally. He first took a pass, streaking up the right side, for a high quality shot on goal. Then got the puck at the top of the circles and stickhandled the puck between his legs and then released another high-quality shot that got blocked by traffic in front. He immediately dashed in to retrieve the puck that trickled behind the net and passed it backhand in front, unfortunately it hit Lenoard you was down on the ice from contact in a scrum but the pass was to Smith who actually didn't see it as he was trying to get into position. Didn't score but just love the response on that shift.

I don't think anyone is praying. That was the talk before the draft. Now that we've watched it at the world juniors and the NCAA, it's clear that he is more of a driver than a passenger.
