idiots saying idiot things because they're idiots. success puts you in the spotlight and draws praise, positive attention directed towards someone that isn't themself or someone they want it directed towards compels them to respond with uninformed pointless thoughts. you can identify these people by the whistle you hear from their ears when in their presence as the wind blows through their empty fkn skull.
f***in ruthless. Hahaha.

Yeah.

He's on pace to become BC's highest scoring freshman ever.
Ken Hodge had 64 points as a freshman in 1984-85. I'm not sure how many games Gabe has left. 10 more in the regular season and then an unknown number in the HEA tournament and NCAA tournament.

Hodge also has the freshman record for assists with 44. Gabes needs 15 more to catch him.

Gabe has 14 points in 7 games since the WJC. If he can maintain that pace, he'll be at 59 points going into the HEA tournament.

The highest point total ever for BC was Craig Janney with 83 as a sophomore in 1986-87.

I read somewhere that it was Gionta's 61.

Was assuming that they'd get in enough games in the post season for him to eclipse that mark. 64 is within reach too.

For reference for others, Stepan had 54 in his Sophomore season. Wisconsin made it all the way to the championship game that year where they lost to a freshman Kreider and the Eagles.

Kreider's high was in his Junior season where he had 45 in 44 games.

Depending on if he goes back (and who else may return) he may legit break the all time mark next year.

high level players in college hockey scoring used to be much higher too and with much greater talent disparities even 10 years ago, so that context is definitely relevant too.

That 86-87 BC team four 60 point scorers and two more guys that got 47 points including a famous defenseman that wore #2.

Cutter Gauthier led BC in scoring last year with 37 points. Lane Hutson led the conference in scoring with 48.

Very different era. Gabe is legit.

The Beanpot is this Monday and next Monday. They should be fun and very high-intensity games, but they conflict with Rangers games. I'm thinking about watching the BC games and then watching the Monday night Rangers games on Tuesday.

I watched Eichel play a few games for BU in his predraft year- Jack was a more dynamic presence but the PPG is similar.

I was thinking this before:

Can we say that the competition in the NCAA is tougher now than when Eichel played? Can this be factored in re: how dynamic Gabe is?

I didn't see Kariya play at Maine (who many people say was the best player in NCAA history.)

Eichel is easily the best I've seen at this level regardless of age. What he was able to do as a Freshman was insane especially with out a ton of support around him (Rodrigues has become a pretty good player and having a senior as support helps, but he pales in comparison to the talent that these other top freshmen scorers have had.)

Junior season Gaudreau is second.

Gabe isn't doing that, but the track record of true freshmen who do work and then go on to be good (or better) NHL players is pretty rock solid.

Beanpot underway! 20k in attendance!

Gabe was just robbed 2 minutes into the game(more the goalie got so lucky), he thought he scored at first.

edit - BU scores first. Soft goal.
