He led the NTDP in goal scoring last year (53G in 63GP). While more of a playmaker his goal/assist ratio was surprising this year and is starting to correct itself. He's been shooting all along (4th in shots behind Gauthier, Leonard, Smith), they have just started to go in.

If there are any "issues" with the kid, I'd like to hear what they are.

My initial reaction is that it's someone looking to dull the shine off a kid that's out performing alot of his peers and projections due to his size and their misunderstanding that his pre-college production was off the back of other players.

I'd like to hear what the concerns are.

My biggest concern at the moment with him, is that he's a New York Ranger.

Again, it never made any sense to claim that the player with the most points of a trio was being carried by the other two.

Questioning his project ability is one thing but this kid does not get carried by linemates. He creates most of the chances.

Gabe essentially gets punished for being efficient.

Smith’s greatest asset is his feet, so when you watch him beat a defender wide or wheel around the zone to create an open lane - the eye test says he’s doing the work for his linemates.

Perreault on the other hand will back his way into the zone, “bump” the puck towards the boards for a streaking teammate and immediately take an unorthodox route to the far side of the net. He KNOWS that all eyes will be on that streaking teammate and he can get lost in coverage and put himself in the deadliest spot on the ice. He eventually gets the puck back and stashes it in a yawning net, but the eye test says his teammates did the all hard work and he just got lucky, even though he basically orchestrated the whole thing!

BC is playing U-Mass Lowell friday night - the team with the worst record (7-16-2) in Hockey East. Could be a high scoring affair if BC brings their A-game.

I'm planning on watching the remainder of BC's games this season now that I know they'll be hosted on the ESPN+ service.

The Beanpot is this Monday and next Monday. They should be fun and very high-intensity games, but they conflict with Rangers games. I'm thinking about watching the BC games and then watching the Monday night Rangers games on Tuesday.

Hopefully, but after 2 big emotional wins vs BU, and another huge game vs BU on Monday, I could easily see this being a letdown game for BC.

It feels like the first time in who knows how long the Rangers didn't big brain it... we were blessed enough to have this kid fall right into our laps and shockingly the Rangers didn't f*** it up. Grateful to have Gabe in the system
Hold your horses.

Let's hold the praise until we see this kid not waste away on a 3rd/4th line with 7min/night.

idiots saying idiot things because they're idiots. success puts you in the spotlight and draws praise, positive attention directed towards someone that isn't themself or someone they want it directed towards compels them to respond with uninformed pointless thoughts. you can identify these people by the whistle you hear from their ears when in their presence as the wind blows through their empty fkn skull.

I'm hoping that's why the game isn't live on ESPN+ yet.

Edit: It just came up.
