Last thing he needs is to be thrown into this mess. He’s a mediocre skater too so he’s probably another guy who won’t show that flash immediately. Let him develop and work on his skating. Don’t want Mika & co to rub off on him
Calder confirmed

1000%.I’m the biggest Gabe pumper but he needs to stay in college for one more year.
Clayton Keller would be the best comparison. I don't see his dangler no defense style of PanarinI know it's hard to compare him to an established superstar but how does he game compare to Panarin's?
Keller is a better skater no? I have a hard time finding a current player comp. The guy he reminds me of most is Alex Tanguay.Clayton Keller would be the best comparison. I don't see his dangler no defense style of Panarin

Tanguay is from early on in my fanhood. I never thought of him as anything special is that because of he played with or was he more of a role player?
Tanguay was a really good player.

It would take some serious mitigating circumstances for me to be ok with that. He likely will not need the development, and you’re getting dangerously close to walk for free territory at that point. At least. I wouldn't be upset if he spends his junior year there as well, but it all depends on what Smith and Leonard do, I guess.
I think Tanguay was definitely a secondary piece on that team but that’s only because he was playing with two HOFers. He was an important part of the chemistry of those teams and even had his best statistical output with Calgary after he left the Avalanche.Tanguay is from early on in my fanhood. Memory is foggy for me a bit too, but from what I remember Tanguay was just a cerebral player who didn’t wow you with speed or any other skill really but still produced points seemingly with ease.

Wood, Moore, and risk/reward I might have taken Sale as well. Was thinking about this earlier...
How many guys selected in this last draft are clear takes over Perreault right now?
For me its:
The top 3
Michkov
Benson
I'd take Leonard too but its closer. I have zero visibility into the 2 Russians that Arizona took or how Sandin-Pellikka has looked in the SHL (he looked very good at the WJC.)
Yeah and I'm not understanding the idea that he needs to prove himself away from Smith and Leonard and not vice versa.
Anyone who has watched them this year and is being honest should be able to pick out the guy who has benefited from playing with the other 2 (and it was the highest pick of the 3!)

Hoping Oliver Bonk turns into Sanguinetti for Flyers. #cosmickarmaI think Giroux is a good comp for Gabe.

Thats a very hot take. The only 1st rounders i can say for sure i'd have taken over Perreault would be the Top 3 and Michkov. Benson was in same tier with Perreault for me pre-draft. Leonard up there as well. Was a hot take pre-draft, but i've just never seen it with Smith. Idk that he'll bust, but imo he's the most likely of the NTDP line to do so.
I wouldn't have taken any of those over Perreault, especially Sale.
Thats a very hot take.
Smith seems very much like Cooley to me.
Im not focusing on points, pure talent and what ive seen of him. And I had cooley at 1 in his draft class.
IQ and vision are hard to really identify with that entire line. Theyve played together for what 3 years now?I like Cooley's vision and IQ way more. Smith is a guy that I just think will end up being less than the sum of his parts. Something is just...off, there.
