Speculation: Roster/Trade Discussion Thread

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

You all do remember that trocheck’s NTC becomes less prohibited in like a week right?

I’d be surprised if Drury doesn’t already have that list.

Also, you really think that a current 12 team list and a future 10 team list really makes a big difference here? The change in the NTC is a bit of trivia, not anything with a real impact on the trade market for him.

So all the crying is just over the Rangers not trading Trocheck and Schneider yet? You even said yesterday not to trade Lafreniere. Everyone else has an NMC. They can’t have a major sell off. It’s not possible right now. So why are we so hung up on it?
No one is hung up on it. The thing with Trocheck started months ago. We're just looking for Drury to actually get something done so we can move on.

By 2 teams, which may or may not have any effect on our ability to move him or change whatever return we might get.

Drury should already know which teams are coming off Trocheck's list, and Trocheck should be willing to accept a trade to those teams simply because in a week's time, he won't have the ability to block it. These are discussions Drury should have already had with Trocheck and his agent.

Waiting until July 1st could mean that some teams pivot in other directions before then. We've already seen a bunch of moves. Who knows what the market for Trocheck actually is at this point. All we know is that Drury has set a very high price and no one has yet come close to meeting it.

One can hope that with players not wanting to come to NY currently (Tkachuk/Byram) that Drury and more specifically Dolan see the writing in the wall. There can be no retool that will be sufficient to making this current group a contender. This is a very unlikely scenario, I get it.

In this fantasy world, the Rangers would keep Laff and Schneider to be part of the future core due to their ages. Assets moved this offseason would be Shesh, Fox and Trocheck. Next offseason would be Miller and Zib (potentially based in their play this year, if teams would even be interested).

  • Fox to San Jose for the #2, Misa and 2028 1st
  • Shesh to Buffalo for the #4, Mrtka, 2027 1st
  • Trocheck at 50% for Wallstedt, Spacek and 2027 1st
  • Draft Stenberg, one of Reid, Carels or Smits and Bjorck
Fantasy competed

EDIT: Forgotten Gavrikov! Trade him back to LA for #17 (Draft either Command, Morozov or Klepov)

Trade Trocheck, and then what? They will likely be buyers after that, which is my fear. “Trading everything that isn’t tied down” like RB said is a literal impossibility

It's Drury's shit plan, not mine. I don't trust him to sell lemonade.

No, we can't sell everything. We have too many NMCs and too many players who have no value. But let's start with the one obvious player we can trade and go from there. We all know Drury can't do more than one thing at a time anyway.

Nobody is hung up on it. This team is going nowhere. They can at least start the process of the "retool" with a Trocheck trade. Maybe even trade Gravrikov back to LA if he is going to be miserable here. Package them together?

He wrote weeks and months. It's been four months.

Quite possible this letter was just to get Panarin to waive his clause, which would be hilarious

It was. Panarin couldn’t get it through his head that he wasn’t wanted until after he left. And even now he’s still confused based on his comments to the media

The reality of the situation is that the rangers can’t sell and they aren’t going to punt an entire season. Have fun with the struggle sessions over the GM and whether he "retools" or "rebuilds". He's the guy in charge and there's only one direction he can go given things as they are. Realpolitik. Dolan and Drury dont want to deal with Fox and Igor and others demanding trades, which will only sour the fanbase more. They are going to try to win with their elite players under contract. Its a herculean task to dismantle this team. My concern is the extent to which they add. Right now patience seems like the smart play.

I miss Uncle Larry.

This is a stream-of-consciousness article that doesn't tell us anything new, except that Dolan's son is heavily involved with the fitness of the team.

I just read that. It should be illegal for that to be behind a paywall.
