Trade and Free Agency - 2025-26

Brodin for futures to Buffalo to replace Bynum as a stop gap.

2 seconds to help us finish off Larkin trade

Even if we don't use the return to trade for Larkin, I wouldn't hate seeing Brodin traded for some picks or prospects, just to add some new young assets to the organization. Same with Spurgeon and Foligno.

If Hughes signs for 5+ years, that should be the first thing we do. Get some fresh blood and legs in here.

The more I hear about some of these names becoming available, the more I'm cooling on Larkin and would rather go after 2-3 second line types.

The fact that the Tkachuk trade happened so quickly and with zero fanfare also makes me think Yzerman isn't a guy I want to deal with.

So call his bluff and let him stew in his own shit and go deal with the reasonable GMs for pieces you won't have to overpay for.

I don’t know about that tbh, I think they’ve gotta try to keep the most competitive roster for next season. They’ve got a decent window with Boldy under his current contract.

If we have the assets to get that many of them, then yeah!

Are the Blackhawks okay? lol
Trading a 4OA for Byram is all sorts of idiocy.

Granted, it’s easy to deliberately try to lose. Completely different subject to try to build a winner. Good luck to them with Davidson “leading” that franchise. To make matters worse, they have many of their supposed high end prospects closer to bust trajectory than actual assets.

Granted, maybe moving off the 4OA doesn’t mean much when they are looking at another top 10 pick minimum next year, with it very likely being top 5.

It's still early in the game, but if we could have traded Hartman, a B prospect and the 2027 or 2028 1st for Kyrou, I probably would take that over the prices I've seen on the other veterans that got moved.

Hopefully Bill's patience is rewarded and he makes a trade by the end of the draft that doesn't piss us all off

McMichael is a better asset than what you just outlined

It is kinda funny how Yurov & Stramel are X-factors of this franchise despite neither one really being a blue-chip prospect. Obviously if we trade them, or if we don't extend Hughes, this may change. But these two guys are so crucial if they stick around.

I don’t get why Yurov isn’t viewed higher. Great pedigree and would have been drafted much higher if not for the whole Russian thing. Had his rookie season at a later age but stuck and looked great defensively and showed flashes of offense. I would not trade him for a first at his original draft position. He’s going to get better

Hes got a great floor. But there was inconsistent offense in the KHL and he didn't blow down the doors here either in his rookie year. I think it is fair to question how much offensive upside is present. I am also hoping we keep him. Could see him taking a big step next year. No telling how much transitioning to a new hemisphere and culture can impact performance.
