Speculation: Roster/Trade Discussion Thread

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.

90 percent of this board wanted byram and when a GM gets him the gm is an idiot.

The cost is the cost for a player. Market dictates that. Chicago wasn't the only team talking to buffalo about byram
So no trade is bad then. Even when it’s NYR. “The cost is the cost. Market dictates it.”

Miller has an NMC. He might waive for Florida, but I don't think Dolan would be happy with retaining 4 mil for 4 years. And if I'm Florida, I'd rather have the 24-year-old Lundell than the 33-year-old Miller. The 1 mil in cap savings isn't enough to make a difference.

Oh I don't think Dolan would retain 4x4 in a million years. I do think it would be a smart move though (as I doubt we'll be anywhere near the cap for the next few years). That said, Miller, in a bad year where he missed 14 or 15 games, still put up 10 more points than Lundell and plays a heavier game (on top of the Team USA chemistry). If Florida is going all in (and giving up every 1st round pick for the next decade would indicate that they are), I think Miller in Lundell's spot would increase their odds at more Cups in the next 4 years. The extra million would be gravy.

Again though--purely hypothetical. I think Florida over-values Lundell and agree that Dolan won't retain on a multi-year contract.

Ever since Brady got traded to Florida, it's been Miller-to-Florida and the Cats having an American fetish. Miller's not going anywhere or I delete Tob's account

Age is a huge difference, and whatever extra points Miller might score doesn't make up for it.
If I’m Florida I don’t make that trade, I’m not trying to argue that, but it’s more than just age and “extra points.” There’s also chemistry with two of their top five players. Who knows? They invested a lot in Brady. They may believe Miller helps maximize those two.
