He spent a lot of last season with Couturier and Farabee, so maybe we see that again.

Depends on Frost. G would like to stay at LW, which probably means staying with Couts.
JVR played well with Hayes, and Atkinson has played with him before, so that's your probable second line
Which leaves Farabee - Frost - Allison/Lindblom as your third line.
And a crappy 4th line of say Lindblom - Laughton - Laczynski or Laughton - Brassard - Allison.

I think the writing is on the wall that this will be G's last season here. The org seems ready to move on and see Hayes as the new captain. Fletch gains 8 mil in space when he walks and 7 mil the following offseason when JVR does. Thats how he will pay all that sweet sweet money to Risto.

I seriously doubt G is going anywhere, he's made his money, he's got roots here, and his two goals are a Cup and making the HOF, both which are probably as attainable here as anywhere. My suspicion is that there's a handshake agreement in place, and both sides want to see how this season goes before hammering out final details.

clearly you didn't see the GM's comments about the Clode situation. #14 will be the new captain. Part of his contract......

Too many closed door meetings for captain G I'm afraid.

This season is definitely gonna be the determining factor.

G is far from guaranteed to come back imo

I feel like the Flyers media is turning into

That dude aint media. He's a failed blogger.

Huh?

Fletcher has already said that Giroux will be here for as long as he wants.

Giroux consistently has said he wants to stay.

So I have no idea how you arrive at the conclusion that the organization "seems ready to move on."

Also, it seems obvious that Couturier is next in line for the captaincy when Giroux eventually retires, not Hayes.

JVR played 343:31 with Couturier.

JVR played 85:37 with Hayes.

this 100%, stop with the hayes being next captain talk. Its couts and not even a discussion really

Hayes is not going to be captain here, when Giroux retires or is traded, it will go to Couturier. Hayes will probably be gone by then. The 'organization' loves Couturier , who is the heart and soul of the FLyers and it's leader.

It's an interesting hot take but reading the charts says he's more comparable to Seabrook than manning. Keith was a valuable contributor for the hawks last year at a similar cap hit. Av has a tendency to over play guys but I think the reduction in role is going to be very good for risto

This whole "reduced role" thing helps to prove how out of touch people are with what's happening around the league. Risto was given a reduced role in Buffalo over the last few years, and he continued to struggle. He's going to the the 2nd RD on the team, much like he was in Buffalo. Buffalo's a bad team, no one is denying that. It possible, and even likely, that he looks better in Philly. Though, that will have more to do with playing with the Flyers best defenseman, rather than Risto suddenly figuring out how to play defense after 8 years in the league.

Unless of course, his reduced role here is third pairing, but that raises a whole separate issue (why would you pay that much for a 3rd pairing guy).

I for one like how some were in the state of "the big names are not showing up! they need to do more!" and what happened is that we added guys who would flourish in a reduced role. Sounds logical

I wasnt being serious...just playing on the dramatic posts that have been frequent on this board recently.

So this look accurate to what we are going to be watching?

Giroux-Couturier-Farabee
JVR-Hayes-Atkinson
Laughton-Frost-Konecny
Lindblom-Brassard-Allison
(Thompson) (Lasczynski)

Provorov-Ellis
Sanheim-Braun
Yandle-Ristolainen
(Morin) (York)
