Couturier's pro-team mindset just did us a huge favor. He easily could have cashed out harder and put Fletcher in a hard position.

The term was always going to be worrying with his mileage and growing health concerns, and I don't think there was ever any good way to get around that. A player like this gets term and that's that.

Come on now....as much as Hextall fell off at the end here, he made some good moves in order to fix Holmgren's cap hell roster. Who knows where we would be if he wasn't able to offload Hartnell, Pronger, Lecavalier

Look I think Hextall sucked too, but does this guy realize it was Hextall who signed Couturier to one of the best deals in the league?

I mean yes the team has done f***-all with that cap efficiency, but Fletcher hasnt touched that last deal. I doubt hell even get a chance to, or create a chance to. Most GMs don't.

Saint Ronnie making those moves was no stroke of genius. Dumping Pronger was easy as Arizona is a dumping ground. The Vinny deal doesn't happen unless Vinny wanted it to happen. Was a very good trade for Columbus. What about having his hands all over the Andy Mac deal?

I never said all of Hextall's moves were great.

Do you also remember that it was Hextall that signed Couturier to his previous contract?

I usually like your posts, but what are you talking about here? Patrick was a black hole for most of his time here. That bottom 6 would have been pretty trash. That defense is abysmal. Maybe Trotz makes it a totally different team, but that just isn't a very impressive roster at all.
