While everyone pushes NAK out the door realize he scores at the same 5v5 rate as Hayes.
The overreactions around here are hysterical, they add a few veterans on one year, just above the minimum contracts that can be buried in LHV at zero cost and the next thing you know people have them at 3C in indelible ink.
Farabee is 21, you think he's worried about Brassard? Maybe because he scored at an elite rate last year.
We saw Allison last year, you think after that performance he's worried about making the roster?
When Lindblom came up from the AHL, the only thing that could slow him down was cancer.
Frost is 22, if he can't beat out Brassard or Thompson, maybe he's not very good?
You have plenty of opportunities in training camp to make it obvious you belong, if you can't make it obvious then you're a "suspect," not a "prospect."
Most of those "prospects" we've seen the last few years have been suspects. Twarynski, Vorobyev, Bunnaman, Kase, Rubtsov, Friedman et al.
If we didn't pick up Thompson and Brassard would you be comfortable with Bunnaman and Rubtsov as your first callups at center? Or J Cates?
We don't know if Laczynski is ready for the season.
Ideally, young players would make these decisions for your HC, it would be great if Laczynski is 100% and takes a job, if Frost makes everyone uh and ah in camp, if J Cates looks like he was born to PK, if York/Zamula show they're poised beyond their years, and so on.
The consensus is always it’s not the players’ fault, it’s the coaches’ & management’s fault. Well, unless you’re Hayes, Hagg, & now Ristolainen. If frost doesn’t beat out whatever player it’s not his fault seems to be the consensus.
It's a weird off-season for nak. Going from being protected in expansion to at risk of being waived.
I see if frost were to make the team they drop brassard to 4c and sit Thompson which means they have to send down one of nak or Allison.
If frost has spent his downtime unwisely it's still bad news for bunnaman who I had pushing for a spot only days ago.
Though I have enough faith in these young guys that the starting lineup in January won't be the same as October. I'm also fearful av will default back to those guys come April regardless of being outperformed.
Awww, isn't that cute. You actually think Frost and York are going to get a fair shake from Vigneault and company. Vigneault has got favourites and he's going to do everything he can to put his guys in a position to succeed. If Frost and York make the roster it will be in spite of Vigneault, nor because of him. And Schmuck will do everything he can to appease the moron.
Yes, but AV. This goes back to the previous thread. What you say is all true, but AV will decide if those young guys deserve to play over the vet pets. They will have to blow away the Brassards, Yandles and Thompson’s of the world. Just being better won’t move AV, I think. The young guys will need to play in the NHL in order to get better at that level. I worry that if they are better than the vets, but not racy better, AV will revert to “safe veterans” I could be wrong, but it is my worry. The overreactions around here are hysterical, they add a few veterans on one year, just above the minimum contracts that can be buried in LHV at zero cost and the next thing you know people have them at 3C in indelible ink.

it is not the team we deserve. After all we have been through last year, this is not what we deserve lmaoWell at least they're being f***ing Flyers.
This isn't the team we need, it's the team we deserve
why. just why....Farabee Couturier Atkinson
JVR Brassard Hayes (I do not give a shit about single player on this line)
Giroux Laughton TK
Lindblom Frost Allison
NAK (too may penaltieslast year) Thompson (provides leadership in press box)

He’s also arguably a better forechecking forward as well. While everyone pushes NAK out the door realize he scores at the same 5v5 rate as Hayes.

showing proper fundamentals like getting back on the back check.
That can't be; every GM passed on him for free once, and GMs don't collectively whiff on player assessments.

Allison has an injury history and a game style that lends to more of them but an off night for farabee or a token vet in the doghouse for Atkinson and he could be playing up the lineup. The odds of everyone being injury free and Covid free in mid October are pretty low. Allison and Laczynski were injured to start last season and they didn’t even have preseason games.
The writing is already on the wall: Thompson will be waived sooner or later as they found a significant upgrade in the bargain bin in Brassard. Let's wait how camp plays out and who shows up in what shape until freaking out about another league minimum Vet signing.
xGF% - 5x5 SVA last season:
Raffl 45.50%
NAK 46.79%
Voracek 47.49%
Patrick 50.03%
Hayes 51.43% [last 20 games 47.50%, around the time the sport hernia started hindering him]

i really dont get this fanbase, it's like they didnt watch the oilers and sabres when they forced youth in the lineups and they couldnt have a winning season for over a decade and yet for some reason you think it will work for us even though we were a laughing stock of the league last year?
