Management/coaching didn't like him calling them out and wanted him gone which is fine. The rush to dump him at any cost is completely unacceptable.

They should have held onto him until the dust started to settle on free agency because I'm sure there's a team out there who lost out on their target(s) that would have given up an asset for him.

If there was no demand at a TDL where Savard garnered a 1st, 3rd and 4th, I'd say the league gave its verdict.
I mean they were able to move Gus and the rest of his $3M.

He's a younger, more mobile but less offensively skilled version of Yandle.
The league valued him slightly higher than Stralman.

Was he shopped at the TDL? Why the rush to dump him rather than hold on to him for the teams that lost out on Hamilton?

Ghost almost hit double digits in goals bouncing between 2nd and 3rd pair duty to the press box. It wasn't until halfway through the year that they started using him properly on the PP.

I will go on the record right now and say AZ trades him for at least a 2nd round pick within a year.

Moving a $4.5m contract after teams had already signed most of the players they wanted and had even less cap space would not have been any cheaper. Ottawa preferred to sign MDZ at 2 x $2m than take Ghost plus a 2nd.

Are we really talking about York making $5 million before his 3 year ELC even kicks in? Lets maybe relax.
Does Kotkaniemi ring a bell? We might see more of these OS to good RFAs. If York is as good as advertised, some team might well take advantage of the Flyers financial commitment to defensemen if Ristolainen and Sanheim get extensions.

Ghost is untradable this year from Arizona. They can only retain on 1 more and that is Kessel. I can’t even fathom how people think Fletcher erred and could have gotten more. He did well to clear his salary

We'll never know because he rushed the process. The AZ deal certainly wasn't going anywhere so why not hold out and get a better deal?

Lol, because RFAs signing offersheets is frequent enough to worry about it 3 years ahead of time.

If they retain half his salary at the TDL.

Yeah, look at the losers on that list, OEL, Carlsson, Petry, Theodore, Muzzin, Weegar
Don't you always preach that you need context? Clearly Carlson, Weegar, and Theodore aren't bad players as their underlying metrics indicate and this is a byproduct of counting stats and being a primary play driver.

OEL and Fisto are none of those things, and this indicates, once again, how bad both of those players have been. Especially Fisto.

But at this point I'm convinced you already know all this and are just trying to get a rise out of people

I'm convinced they don't know this.

The NHL's turnover stats are tracked hilariously poorly and inconsistently. I have zero faith in the reliability of the data.
