Please spare us a month and a half of you worrying about Bunnaman going on waivers. And stop talking about Cates as if he's the good brother.

They signed Cates to a 3 year ELC at $900+K, Noah isn't good enough to warrant that move to get him to sign, so they must actually like Jackson.

No they didn't. They signed him to a two year ELC and burned the first year with a few games in the NHL.

Vecchione signed a one year ELC, burned that with two games in the NHL. Then signed a two year, one-way extension at $900K. And yet he never played another NHL game.

He’d have to dominate in preseason, & I don’t see that happening coming off shoulder surgery & 4 periods of hockey in 18 months.
Still…to come out and say he absolutely wont make it kinda sucks to hear, especially for frost. I kinda figured he would have to play there and get that call up but it would have to come with an injury.

They didn't sign MV with the idea he'd never play in the NHL.
If you're just signing players for LHV, you sign them to two way deals, why sign a non-prospect for prospect money when you can sign an AHL veteran who you know can perform at that level?
Just because they sign someone, doesn't mean they'll make the NHL, just that the team thinks they have a legitimate shot of playing there someday.

An ELC is a two-way deal. Cates' salary in the minors is $80,000.

My bad, didn't realize that.

Explains why kids stay in college, if you're only making that kind of money staying in school doesn't have nearly the same opportunity cost as if you were making $900K, so only the ones that are close to NHL ready come out early.

I’ve been feeling apathetic about the Flyers since last season…but looking at our lineup projections now - is it safe to say, if Carter Hart plays like an above average goalie this year, we are a legit contender?

I know we don’t have a true game changing star player like Tampa or COL (unless someone takes a huge leap this year) - but it feels like we can roll 3 lines capable of scoring regularly and a much more balanced D core compared to last year.

Maybe I’m being optimistic. I did bet multiple people that Flyers would end up a top 3 team in the division before the start of our COVID season, though.

I lied, and now cannot resist.

So let’s break down all these moves;

good:

-ellis
-farabee
-couts
-Atkinson? I think tHis move shouldn’t hurt us too much tbh but damn I’ll miss Jake

bad:
-risto
-Thompson

TBD:
-jones—-wait and see if he can be reliable for 25+games
-yandle (I’m leaning toward good cus I think he can help the pp out)

Where are we ranking the brassard move?

The Hart contract goes in the bad. I like Hart but he isn't worth what he got.

Eh I don’t think it’s a drastic overpayment. I can’t imagine hart having a season like that ever again. If anything, what is it like a 500k overpayment? That doesn’t constitute going to the bad category for me cus I don’t think he is going to be that bad for the entirety of the contract.

The way I view the Hart contract is that I think he will end up earning it but he still didn't deserve it after a historically bad season. That should have gotten us a discount of around $1 million per off of it what he got.

Sanheim was an overpay too based on the term. For the cap hit it should have been longer.
