Potential next year rster

Skinner-tage-Peterka
mitts-Cozens-Quinn
Greenway-Krebs-Tuck
xxx-xxx-xxx

Olofsson possibly traded
Jost an RFA
Girgs likeky is resigned.
Okposo a UFA

Lankinen off the market, he re-upped with Nashville. Adin Hill, 2 years 3million per.

Are we done or any more trades ?

Lines with greenway?

I personally think Tuch is done for the year given how the Sabres handle injury announcements.

So given that, I want to see this:

Skinner-Tage-Quinn
Mitts-Cozens-Oloffson
Peterka-Krebs-Greenway
Girgensons-Jost-Okposo

Swap RWs around as performance dictates. I think Mitts-Cozens-Greenway could be a really fun line too.

Correct, they also haven't even announced what the injury is; have they?

For right now with Tuch out:

Skinner-Thompson-Quinn (it's worked, not sure if it stays together because they are getting their ears pinned back in their own zone)
Peterka-Cozens-Greenway (give him a whirl as puck retrieval and an opportunity to show if he has some offense to go along with Cozens handling entries)
Mittelstadt-Krebs-Olofsson (Mitts and Krebs energy on the forecheck works, Olofsson gets a chance to get going until Tuch gets back)
Girgensons-Jost-Okposo (same as it ever was)

They could flip around a few of these - Quinn down with Mitts-Krebs and slip Greenway up to be what Asplund was on RW for Tage and Jeff leaving Olofsson to Cozens again. Or when Tuch comes back, Vic goes to the pressbox while Tuch slips back into the top line and Quinn shifts back down the lineup.

So next year lineup ? What would it look like with Jost, Okposo , Hinostroza gone ?

Skinner Thompson Tuch
Peterka Cozens Quinn
Mittlestadt Krebs Olofsson
Girgensons free agent Center Greenway

Samuelsson Dahlin
Power free agent D?
Jokiharju Lyubuskhin
Bryson

G free agent or trade ?
Ukko

Sending comrie Down

Johnson, or any other like Kulich playing ? Not many places left on this team . Only like a D , goalie and some good 4 th line C. Also need place for Kulich and Savoie Ostlund rosen in future . Looks like few spots left.

Trading joki and Olofsson ? Kulich takes Olofsson spot

Love Don, but it's only impatience if you believe Joki/Clague/Bryson/Stillman are going to turn into top defensemen. I just don't, so its not patience to wait til later, it's procrastination.
ya I think there's plenty of holes that you can look at and go "we dont have anyone who can develop into that role"

thats where the frustration comes in

but add to that, they were in for chychrun and that says to me that defense isnt one of the positions theyre happy with

and they tried to get Chychrun, I'd bet they find defenseman in the off season ....

Atleast we know they are looking

Here's a mock offseason.

[BUF/VAN] Thatcher Demko for 2023 2nd (PHI), Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Henri Jokiharju
[BUF/??] 2024 2nd for Victor Olofsson
[BUF/??] 2024 4th for Jacob Bryson

Re-sign Girgensons, Okposo, Jost, Clague

Connor Clifton - 4 years x $3.5M (played for Granato at the US NTDP)
Carson Soucy - 4 years x $3.5M

Skinner - Thompson - Tuch
Greenway - Cozens - Quinn
Mittelstadt - Krebs - Peterka
Girgensons - Jost - Okposo
x Biro/Rousek

Samuelsson - Dahlin
Power - Clifton
Soucy - Lyubushkin
x Clague, Stillman

Demko / Comrie

- I've become a strong proponent of carrying 8 defensemen given how much our depth has been exposed.
- There's no reason to rush Kulich or Savoie. Keep them down another year; Kulich can be a call-up guy.

Yzerman took his lottery losses in stride and it was respectable, admirable. But those losses set their rebuild back further than people acknowledged imo. They’re basically building from scratch around Seider.

Is Cossa even going to be good?

Cossa’s season has been a mess. Definitely questions about that player’s future right now.

I <3 Tuch, but man does that dude miss a lot of games. I guess that's what happens when you play balls to wall every shift...not that Im complaining.

Goalie and defensive defenseman are on my priority list this offseason.
Finding a suitable goalie will be tough as it always is, but atleast a top-4 defenseman is obtainable.

Also, tomorrow will be the Smoking Goat Lord unis again, though this will be the second time they have worn them in a rescheduled game. The only other rescheduled one was the loss to the Flyers.

So they don’t even have a goalie coming. Raymond is barely an average first line winger…Edvinsson hasn’t shown the most progress in the world…Larkin is a good mentor I guess. But yeah, I gotta agree with Yzerman. But I think he knew that going into the season too.

Things have not broken their way so far this year for sure.

The biggest reason to carry 8 Dmen is because their best extra FWs will be Rosen and Kulich. Those two (or Rousek) can all rotate in and out of Rochester on demand. Whoever is hot in Rochester and deserves it can get the call up. Then, as you say, with the Dcorps depth being so poor after the top 3 (and Joker sort of), Granato will need to have an extra body simply to avoid icing whoever is playing badly.

Rousek is my favorite darkhorse prospect right now. He's got the wheels and a strong will to do whatever is necessary.
