Sounds about right. Asplund and Jost are also RFA's... and Bjork if that matters which it doesn't. Seems they went 2 years on a lot of guys with Olofsson, Mitts, Dahlin, Joker, Boosh, Bryson, Power, Krebs, Comrie, and UPL all having their deals expire after next season.

It makes sense given they started out this season viewing it as another development year. The results thus far have probably exceeded expectations, and they were very likely viewing next season as the one where they decide who the core players are among many of those expiring contracts.
So then we shouldn't hear the excuse trading for a player is standing in the way of our prospects like we have heard in the past.

I wouldn't think so, at least not next season. None of the new wave of kids will be ready for the NHL, and at this point they should be able to focus on improving the team now and letting the rest of the kids slow cook and force their way onto the roster or force someone out of a role in a call-up situation. It will really depend on how willing KA is to move someone off the current roster, and make a decision now on whether some players are core moving forward.

Jumping to next year with 4 UFA positions with Okposo, Girgensons, Anderson and Vinny do any prospects make the jump to the NHL?

Kulich starts in the AHL next year, Savoie is in a tough spot its WHL or NHL that leaves resigning Okposo and/or Girgensons and perhaps Johnson signing and making the club next year.

We have 2 open spots on the roster for next year not including trades and signings.

Does that sound about right?

Just trying to get an idea of what the roster will look like after the trade deadline and next year.

The only prospect I see right now who is close to ready may be Johnson.

Anderson rides off into the sunset and doesn’t need to be replaced IMO. That isn’t to say they don’t look at swapping out Comrie but Anderson alone doesn’t really need a replacement.

Gus comes back. PHam chafes.

Okposo maybe returns. He has slowed a lot late this season. Maybe dangle the move into the front office as the way to transition him out of the lineup, but even as an Okposo supporter, the cracks are showing.

I expect Hinostroza to be in Chicago at the deadline.

For 23/24 my assumptions are…

Johnson and Levi signed and in Rochester for most of the year

Bryson, Mittlestadt, Olofsson . And Asplund could be traded
Jost could bysigned lower or not QO to avoid arbitration

Jokiharju is only moved for a clear upgrade not in a lateral move

those players moved mainly in bottom 6 could change a bit.

this team will be seriously cap strapped in summer 26 if they sign Meier

Hey @Der Jaeger , Shayna Goldman has joined the Fabbro wagon per her appearance on Marek on Monday.

We don’t have size and we can’t play defense, yet so many want to keep guys who provide neither like Mitts and Olofsson (and I’d add Joker personally).
We have size.. problem is our size is soft as butter.

Only one with any balls is midget Krebs.

The Sabres have been outscored 16-3 at home since Dahlin wrote his letter to the fans. Reminds me of his buddy Dion Dawkins telling the Players' Tribune that "Cinci can f*** around and find out if they meet us in the playoffs"
That is so Buffalo in both instances. Damn.

Who cares if we have a top 8 point %...this is a "developmental" year. We need all our 2nds, B prospects and unused cap space for next year. Next year is when we make it. I am sure every player will repeat their career seasons.

Weird, Tuch was running guys through the wall tonight and even the soft as butter Thompson was at least trying. But the middle of the lineup is five guys who almost all play a small game and Cozens, who is one of the few players who will try to defend a teammate.

Seem like even Girgensons has lost that edge he used to play with too.

I consider him to be energy line. He's not part of the Cozens or Krebs lines that tend to play to their size and that size is not large.
Love me some DC but I was really hoping he would be a guy running around banging. He was pretty invisible after that early missed net.

This dude is still trying to make a fetch a thing.

Maybe it's a generational thing, but I feel like we used to want to cheer for the guys that wore our crest, we embraced their imperfections. Maybe I spent too many years loving Rayzor because he was willing to bleed for the logo.

It seems these days most just can't wait to trade every roster imperfection away. So much recency bias and hyperbole around every performance.

I'm in no hurry to make any trades, really enjoying the ride these kids have taken us fans along for so far, all of them...

I'm just really tired of people that have "takes" and essentially just look for facts/stats that support their view.
I guess that's what you get when you measure success in social media response.
