Someone else said it so I'm just echoing the sentiment: down the stretch could we give guys like Okie, Zemgus, Boosh, heck even Skinner some rest days if we start looking good to secure a playoff spot? I'd like some of them to heal and recharge if they're going to play postseason hockey. Maybe I'm thinking too far ahead
It gets to be a problem quick. The salary cap is so low that it's always going to be difficult when you don't have 6 players on ELCs, no matter how many good deals you have. Look at the Avs, who had more bargain contracts than anyone.Going to be 43 million once Dahlin signs. Thats half the cap in six players. Not a problem, but you only have a couple more of those core player contracts to hand out before you are into cap managing the bottom half.

I mean the Avs made some moves that were probably not ideal also. Paying Manson 4.5 per to be a 3rd pairing Dman was questionable, had they not signed Manson and found a suitor for EJ they likely could have kept Kadri. They'd probably be in better shape if they didn't have so many players struggling with injuries as well.It gets to be a problem quick. It's hard for me to have opinions on stuff like this until I know what their plans are for Mitts, VO, Asplund, Girgs, Okposo, et al. I could support any of the proposals but I'd prefer to wait until the draft or offseason.I think Adams has the room to go after two bigger contract players. I'd be in on a Chychrun or Ekholm trade. I'd also look at a free agency move if Larkin or Aho don't get the deals they want.
I'd also be in on something to get Miles Wood. Perfect lower line power player. Luke Tuch out of Montreal is a good target. Still would like to get Comtois as a reclamation project.
I know, the website etc .. but this guy nails it and both would be great for us if they hit cleanly.I think Adams has the room to go after two bigger contract players. I'd be in on a Chychrun or Ekholm trade. I'd also look at a free agency move if Larkin or Aho don't get the deals they want.

That proves my point -- if a team can manage the cap perfectly for a decade and then get thrown off course from a measly $4.5M contract, then I don't know how you can disagree with my statement.I mean the Avs made some moves that were probably not ideal also. I think the team decided , a competitive advantage is needed And... how to fit two more under by needing less.It gets to be a problem quick. If Dahlin can be signed for under 10, I think we have our answer to how much "vibes" are worth. And that 100% changes the calculus for whether the team should add at the trade deadline. Between the Giraffe, Cobra, and Workhorse contracts and any potential discount on a Dahlin contract, "vibes" now could be worth a real impact player in the contending window. In which case, any deadline move this year MUST consider the impact on the "vibes".I really don't think Dahlin takes $11M AAV, and I'm really starting to wonder if he even takes a contract that starts with a 10 AAV. He's part of the group that's super tight in the locker room, and I get the sense that money really doesn't matter to him at all. I think it's entirely possible he takes a Makar/Fox/McAvoy/Werenski deal........and I'm actually starting to lean as that as the probable case, not just possible.
If you multiply 11 by 7 in devious kid victory math.. 1 line elc and 4 mitts underachiever and old guy round the annual family table .While I am cautiously optimistic with the Cozens, in regards to his long term future, 7-8 year deals should be a rarity to forwards from here on out. We have a couple of inflection points, mainly Tuch's deal ending in `26 and Skinner's in '27. The HOPE is that the volume of draft picks we've used on forwards will lead to an assembly line-esque procession for our middle six wingers. When their ELC is over, bridge deals or flipped for assets should be the name of the game, keep the system refreshed and have a new group of ELC forwards to provide cheap producivity.
I think Granato and KA will want Okposo back. The other options are: is Dahlin ready to be captain, or do they go with no captain next season?
And no. Tuch is not going to be captain next year.
Dahlin, ?????, Tage, Tuch, Bryson, Cozens
I hope the sunburn doesn't affect Tage's ability to play coming off of break...

Don't recognize the guy next to Dahlin.
Dude seriously needs to up his SPF Per Beach Hour rate if he wants to get next levelI hope the sunburn doesn't affect Tage's ability to play coming off of break...
A Megna-Lyubushkin third pairing looks sub-optimal to me on paper. So in terms of roster building, I feel that would not be a great fit.
I think both players are best complimented with someone that skates well and can create some space/carry the puck when needed.
