So please, and I mean this with all due respect, get the f*** out of here with these takes about Botts, Murray, or anyone else that failed miserably at their job while here. They are responsible for absolutely nothing good that is happening now.

I think saying that they're "responsible for absolutely nothing good" is taking it too far the other way. You can give credit to Botts making (stumbling into?) some good moves that Donnie and Kevyn have nurtured and taken advantage of.

I disagree - but I have always been a person that credits scouts for player identification, good or bad.

I find it ironic that in 2023, the best Sabre team in a decades foundation was laid down by Jason Botterill. There is a reason Botts is an AGM for a likely playoff team and Tim Murray hasn't even had another job since we fired him

Botts traded for Tage and Skinner and Jokiharju. Drafted Mitts, UPL, Bryson, Dahlin, Samuelsson, and Cozens. All in all Botts built us a solid team.
get out of here, you are just bottertrolling

I'd like us to trade for ekholm good bottom six guy that can take pressure/minutes from power when need be he would be a great vet addition that we can afford and won't cost premium assets like chych then look for a rhd shutdown guy for power to bump joki down with eks and have boosh as a 7th and someone to replace vo those are the moves to make in that order by deadline to make a legit playoff push

Ugh, I wasn't going to respond to the trolls, but I'm bored so here we go...

People continuing to talk about which GM was responsible for which players continue to miss the point: Talent identification and player acquisition are a small fraction of a GM's overall job.

Here's a list of things that (all) previous GMs failed at on a meteoric level:
- Establishing organization vision, goals, culture, and priorities
- Front office hires and structure
- Creating AND executing a successful player development program
- Coaching hires
- Scouting hires
- Scouting vision
- Analytics department
- Team building and collaboration between departments
- Empowering your staff to execute their goals
- Media communications
- Fan outreach and communications

Not saying Adams is hitting 1.000 with all of these, but he has been worlds better than anyone since... Muckler?

Preach, brother!

Honestly he was bad but thought his drafting was better than GMTM though adam's is better so far TT is good but we could've gotten more out of the ROR trade at the time while taking two cap dumps maybe we get kyrou as well but didn't happen skinner trade was shrewd but contract wasn't although he is currently playing up to it, krueger by far his worst mistake Botts had good ideas poor execution which makes him a good AGM but a bad GM

He'd be a great add, but I'm thinking it will take close to Chychrun-level assets for Poile to actually pull the plug on Nashville's season and move him at or before the deadline.

If they are out by trade deadline I can see them biting on neuchev and a couple 2nd's

he is been evaluated as a GM not an AGM, sure he hit some notes, everybody does, but he failed at playing the piece, which is the job of the GM.

Yeah his execution was horrible same with murray glad Adams has patience but so far not addressing the depth on d issues seems to have bitten us in the ass momentarily but at the same didn't really expect to be in the mix for a playoff push with a legitimate chance to make it. I want KA to try and make moves by TD.

It will be close enough to really not be worth it for a guy who is 32 and under contract for another 4 years.
We will have enough cap or assets to get rid of his contract if he declines steeply by year 3

More than one thing can be true at the same time.

True: Botts was a garbage GM.

Also True: Our current success is primarily due to the Botts Core, and not the players Adams has acquired/drafted.

Also Also True: Botts hired Granato.

I don't know why so many of you can't give him any credit. No one is saying he was good, but he wasn't nearly the train wreck that Murray was.

Because his process was some of the worst you'll ever see this side of Mike Milbury. No reason to credit incompetence.

Jokiharju was on a finnish podcast hosted by Kimmo Timonen and Antti Mäkinen (finnish NHL broadcaster/expert), one funny bit was when he said a lot of people in the summer asked him "why is Dahlin that bad" and he said he tought he never was bad, the team just was in the own end for 50minutes.

The way he spoke about Tage Thompson was also cool, hottest in the NHL and wasn't wrong. Some things i wont translate here since he said "i hope no one translates this" :sarcasm:

Edit: Ok the part what i won't translate was about chicken wings nothing controversial about the team or players or staff lol. He also said Buffalo is a great place and it's stupid that it gets bad rep by some players since they only see their hotel and the rink. And that Dahlin is not only a great player but he kind of "drives the bus" with example. Also said that it's a rare team because they don't have a single bad person on the roster, but everyone is cool.

The way he speaks about the team and the city, is all positive. And he is the kind of guy who would probably say if it wasn't great on a finnish speaking podcast.

Edit: a great bit about Tage what Henri said is "He's not doing anything new, he has always played like this. It's just now he's learned to do it against anyone, his shot has always been insane and he's always played the way he does. Now he just has figured out how to do it against the best."

He likes Ranch with his Chicken Wings?

Trade this bum now!

Henri's all star line of the players hes played with:

Skinner, Thompson, Kane
Keith(almost said Dahlin, but the 3 cups decided it) Jokiharju

These clowns missed the goalie, well at least we got the skaters.
