I like Clague over Bryson and Fitzgerald. I think so far he has done ok but sample size is too small.
I usually get a lot of bias towards new players because seeing a new player is refreshing in a way. When Bryson and Fitzgerald both debuted I liked their games and what they brought to the lineup. Now after a few seasons I find them harder to want In the starting lineup because the bias has worn off. That being said, Clague could be next in the line of that.

I think Clague has gotten worse, Davies didn't look good either; I liked Fitz more last game, at least I didnt see as many mistakes as from the other two.

Any info on Asplund if he is nagging something?
if he is healthy he is one of the little disappointments this season.

Davies didn't play many minutes. I'd give the guy more time B4 making judgment on him

the way he's played this year, he's not wrong.
I remember him being an analytics darling in prior years. There was a stretch last year where he was noticeably effective but was a small sample. I personally don’t think he is anything more than an injury fill in going forward.

Yup, even the analytics have turned on him. The usual suspects have stopped banging the drum on him nonstop. I like Asplund and used to think he's an automatic pencil in the lineup, but this year definitely not.

Helps explain the emotion from Fortin.

Imagine paying professional scouts to do their job. They give you their best advice but you go a different way.

We knew Murray was like that. Having Botterill like that now makes even more sense.
All GMs win some and lose some.

I mean, he wanted Thompson right?

Time to look forward, not back

EF states that Tage was available 2-3 years ago for a 5th round draft pick. At least one (good) team turned it down.

Not gonna pretend at the time I wouldn't have been relieved to just have washed our hands of the ROR trade. Tage had shown nearly nothing except for a shot that he rarely got off or it missed the net.

Of course today I'm thanking f***ing god that didn't happen.

At this point we need to look ahead.

Let's start by fielding the best team we can in Buffalo and stop trying to protect GMs jobs.

Get some more speed on our 3rd and 4th lines.

We have a guy in Rochester, who Adams signed, by the name of Brandon Biro.

It's a win win for the organization

There was a user here recently defending Botterill (allegedly what a good GM he was). LMAO
Yeah,

I like Skinner and Thompson.

Seattle doesn't seem unhappy right now.

Not sure why everyone here is so adamant on giving Adams credit for Thompson.

It seems kind of odd

Either way, we need to look forward

When Fortin came out with those things in praise of KA, it clearly showed that TM was dismissing their job/purpose, but it also showed it must have been similar with JB, or else Fortin probably would have come out saying the same things in favor of JB back then. It's really damning to and frustrating to hear all the many various ways this organization has shot itself in the foot/leg/gut over the years.

In fairness, there are horror stories for many/most GMs around the league, whether through terrible drafting or trades. To some extent most have shown they really aren't experts at player evaluation, team building, or contract negotiations. Some just get the job based on stupid reasons - who they know or related to, used to be a player, etc. What bothers me about TM and JB though (and I'm sure this still applies to other GMs), is that they had the information they needed from the people they were supposed to trust for their input, and still ran head first into a bridge abutment due to their own ego. I just can't stand that, and really instantly lose respect for people like that in many walks of life.

So regardless of everything that KA lacks in experience or expertise...or whatever else normally counts as qualifications these days for a NHL GM, at least he has the sense to know he doesn't have all the answers and is willing to lean on the people that he acknowledges know more than him for certain decisions. That will take anybody further in a career than many people get.

According to the same podcast, Botts offered Thompson around for a 5th and had no takers. So hold the canonization.
Seattle seems happy right now.

Seems to me we should be looking forward, and figure out what's going to take us to the next level.

But sure, thanks Kevin Adams for Tage Thompson. It was a great trade.

I wonder who gets the credit for Krebs?
