hand Granato coach of the year right now. Thats genius playing Zemgus that much and Tage that little 5 vs 5. Maybe Granato is trying to showcase Zemgus?

And Gus' line held Matthews in check which was their matchup. Don actually used a matchup line and it worked.

And yes, it's probably a good look for Gus to be on the ice that much shutting down Matthews in regulation.

So then the bigger issue is we have a number 1 center who isn't capable of holding his own 5 on 5.
Adams assembled a team where other players have to sit 5 vs 5 because they are incompetent.
Buffalo scored just 1 goal.

you see that as a win.

I wonder if other teams number one centers get less ice time than their 4th line centers. Talk about ass backwards but then again we haven't made the playoffs in 13 years.

No, I see Gus sawing off Mathews as a win. I see Thompson and Cozens continuing to flounder in their roles as extremely troubling.

So our “top 4” is locked in next year according to Chad. Dahlin, Sammy, Byram, Power. 2 guys who have been very injury prone. 3 guys having down years. 1 guy who is defense-oriented. 0 guys who are right shot D.

I just don’t like this plan at all. We STILL need a top 4 RHD after moving our best chip. Dahlin is the only guy I am confident can play on the right.

Byram-Dahlin
Power-XXX?
Samuelsson-Clifton

Joker getting moved per Chad. No clue where Johnson fits here long term. It feels super unbalanced, in terms of both handedness and offense:defense proclivity. Oh and we have weakened our forward group to do it.

RJohnson should give them quality minutes. He and Clifton have worked okay given RJ's relative youth and Clifton's straight up bad luck. And yes, a RHD who is more Weegar than Andersson would be my preference.

He feels like the “roster player” portion of a package for a big piece.

Could be. I can't see him breaking the bank on his next contract so maybe a team is thinking they can get him for sub-Forsling money to be their 2nd pair offensive option. *shrug* But very much part of the player portion of a deal.

At this point, handedness seems pretty secondary.

I like RJ a lot. Just don’t see where he fits now that there are no less than 4 lefties ahead of him, who all seem to be locked in.

Still on his ELC, still giving them quality minutes perhaps ahead of schedule and he has some adaptability in his use on his backhand/offhand side that some of the others haven't had. They don't need to rush him out. Let him keep growing in the bottom pair, gives them some utility for when injuries happen up the lineup too.

I don't mind moving Joker, but...he's probably one of your top 4 d-men currently.

This, again, feels like a money move more than a logical move. I had him estimated in the 4M-ish range on a 3-4 year deal.

We're going to be 10M under the cap next year aren't we (again)

Kinda figured Joki was next up. He's had a nice bounce this year, could see a team looking for a mobile 2-way guy interested.

I don't think we should, but it is Kevin's MO to move a guy in that position, that he himself didn't bring onto the team in the first place.

Imagine going into next season with Clifton being the only RHD. Unfortunately, that's too easy to imagine.
